FINAL: PN-G 49, Dayton 7

I wonder if NDN Press will be able to stream next week since it is at PNG.
Unfortunately, Dave Campbell was losing $$ and must have lobbied the UIL so that they can charge $10 to watch their broadcast. This is what I just found...

The NDN Press can no longer broadcast Port Neches-Groves (PN-G) playoff games because the University Interscholastic League (UIL) retains exclusive broadcast rights for its postseason contests. The UIL has an agreement with Dave Campbell's/Sports in Action to manage these rights, and the NFHS Network and Victory+ have first priority to broadcast any chosen UIL playoff games.

Oh wow that sucks even though it is going to be at home this up coming week.

So it seems possible that we can broadcast if Texan Live and Victory+ choose not to broadcast our game.

If approved, it won’t be free but I did read the NDN Press program will receive a portion of the fee.

Never underestimate that app’s propensity to make people act like fools.
Please excuse me here, especially ladies on here, but I Googled the gesture and apparently it's considered a vulgar expression, meaning "big b@lls", or something to that effect. I wonder if all of the kids and women fans making that gesture on NDN Press camera shots are aware of this. Kind of funny I guess.

WRT the game, it was odd. Like a scrimmage, with no punts, except maybe a couple. The QB runs, whether designed or not, seem to be effective this season for most all of the teams, including us. A high percentage of the time it will get you good yardage. Dayton's promising season fell apart on them, but their young QB and running back (#33 is reportedly a freshman) look pretty good. Also btw I like the looks of our back up QB #18.

It’s actually the gesture for the viral “6..7” TikTok trend…you’ll have to Google it like I did, lol! It still doesn’t make any sense to me but I’ve reached “that age” I guess :D

Dayton’s first string injured QB #5 is a junior and the HC son. #88 did an outstanding job filling in for the PNG game.
PNG #9 QB Should not be running without sliding with a 28 point lead. He may feel an internal competition with the sophomore QB that has wheels?
If Montgomery faces SOC I do not expect their QB to last the entire game. With his mindset. You don’t run over division 1 LBs, DEs, and DBs. An Don’t expect the Dallas chapter “SOC” referee crew to protect your players according to the UIL rules.

I fundamentally disagree with anyone who is monetizing high school sports for substantial financial profit. If a school is capable of broadcasting, leave them alone. UIL and whatever entity used to be able to claim that they were bringing the game to the people. But no longer the case. NDN Press and other high school media efforts are more than capable. UIL and DCTX are all about making the money and arranging the game to their benefit. Where is the integrity.

High school football was successful long before DCTX came about. Dave Campbell’s Texas Football Magazine was great, but they didn’t try to control playoff games or the sport. The communities, schools and fans own the game, not some media company.

Next target may be the regular season games.

SOC is built for a rematch with Richmond Randle. If SOC is going through the motions, Montgomery, PN-G, and/or Texas High have a small chance to win. If SOC is amped up they way they were for PN-G last year, then no one in Region 2 will beat SOC and we will have a rematch between SOC and RR. Chief Jeff Joseph and Matt McDaniel are the best in the business when it comes to squeezing the clock and crunching the game into a few key possessions. I would line-up with our coaches and kids 100/100 times. But, when a team recruits and brings in an NCAA OL and defense, the PN-G coaching staff can only do so much with homegrown talent vs. recruits. GO INDIANS!!!!

Any team that is winning with those arrangements, including that team from the Dallas area, should have an asterisk next to any achievement. Tainted accomplishments. Someone can argue against and deny that POV all they want, and spew their reasons, but it is what it is. They may get mad and amped up from those words and claim it as motivation, but it’s still a fact. If any team is allowed to pull players from a 80-90x larger pool of players, and even different areas, no small community team classified for 5AD2 is going to compete with them easily. Except PNG did in ‘23 and now lives rent free in Legends mind. That one stands for the ages.

Thanks, I like your post better than mine. Please forgive me otherwise.

I think the point of the 6-7 thing is that it’s absurd and unexplainable. Us not getting it is the point. No one gets it, but the kids are in on the joke and the adults aren’t.

There is no rational reason for not allowing a student broadcast of a game nobody else is televising. How does that support high school sports and education?
