Well, they did run over in front of Nederland student section and rub it in a little but they kinda deserved it…lol! PNG faculty and Coach Joseph QUICKLY herded them back to our side of the field though.
 
Interesting (and impressive) stat...Connor Bailey is 35-2 as PN-G starting QB (through the Nederland game in 2025).

In 2023, he did not start game #1 vs. PAM. He came in after Shea Adams broke his foot and went 15-0 in route to the state championship game on one of PN-G's all-time great teams. In 2024, Bailey and PN-G went 12-2. This year, 2025, Bailey and PN-G are 8-0 (through the Nederland game).

Based on the season/historical stats at www.pngindians.com, below are some of the all-time greats at PN-G based on W/L records:
(1) Jackson Christian (2021-2024) 48-10
(2) Jeff Cooley (1975-1977) 41-4
(2) Ted Brack (1975-1977) 41-4
(4) Connor Bailey (2023-2025) 35-2...through 8 games in 2025 season

I'm sure that I have missed a few of the greats, and I am presuming that Jackson Christian was a four-year starter, which I think he was, correct?

I know his Freshman year Jackson Christian was in band with my son and played on JV or Fresh team but got moved up to varsity fairly early in the season I believe. I could’ve sworn he became a starter at some point that year but maybe not.
 
Good game, overall. I'd like to see Connor's stats. My only (very small) fret early on was our containment of their QB on the outside(s). I was kind of surprised they didn't try to run him more often in one manner or another. But I liked how we shut them out in the 2nd half until the last few seconds when they finally broke one. Next week will be our first big test since the Huntsville game.
 
Concerning the PNG WR who has been having a hard time catching some passes. This post is not not a dig...but perhaps a suggestion.

I have noticed that he does not snap his chin strap; he leaves it dangling. I am wondering if, when trying to focus on a ball in the air and wanting to pull it in...if possibly the chin guard is flying around and distracting the young man. It could be a visual distraction, as well as a sound distraction...if the metal part on the end of the strap that is supposed to be snapped onto the helmet raps on the helmet, right at the time the player is trying to catch the ball.

This player is very fast and seems tough. I'd really like to see him do well, for his sake and for the sake of the team. He has much potential. I just wonder if snapping his chin strap in place, instead of leaving it to be dangling and flipping around, could make a difference.
 
I hadn't noticed the chin strap. I had a thought that the trouble is the transfer from basketball where you catch a pass and immediately begin dribbling to avoid traveling. The ball is hitting his hands, he's just not snagging it.

I saw #45 suit up and enter the MCM game. It makes my heart ache to see #99 suited up and limping and wanting so badly to get back on the field to help his team. #6 with extra shoulder padding playing through discomfort just like our #52.

these players and many other silent bruised and beaten PNG warriors are sacrificing so much for the success of the team. ASK THEM ABOUT LACK OF FOCUS. A completed TD pass is one less necessary attempt/risk by our talented QB. One less stalled drive and punt.

Nederland tried to double covered #2 to take our productive WR out of the passing game. It’s time for all to contribute entering the ninth week/game of the season.



A snapped chin strap is for a player’s protection so your helmet doesn’t fly off, so your not concused and injured, or have to sit out the next play for losing your helmet and miss the next critical red zone TD pass play. Typically it’s a face mask penalty that takes a player’s helmet off. It’s time for all to step up. do it for the success of the team.
 
I haven’t noticed the chin strap, I’ve noticed that he never puts his mouthpiece in. Not sure if that takes away from his concentration, I think he just needs to learn to have strong hands and squeeze the ball. Once he gets it, he could be unstoppable as a deep threat.

I think we need to really build the kids confidence on short routes ie bubble screens or out routes and then hit him long. They did that a few games back and then came back over the top for a deep pass might have been lake creek.
 
If Mr. Henry keeps this up for the remainder of his high school career, theoretically a maximum of 24 games, he's going to be tapping on that top 3 most rushing yards gained in a career (PN-G) milestone. In an optimal scenario, the all-time record is not impossible. I have him at an unofficial 10th spot after last week.

A memorable knickname might be in order. How about "The Neches Express".
