I went to the 1977 Plano vs PNG game was sitting next to a Local spectator not a Plano fan. Still the all time single game venue attendance record. PNG fumble at the start of the game in their end of the field. The guy turned to me and said that’s going to be an easy Plano score. I told him Plano would not score on this drive. PNG defense held spectacular understood why PNG was there. Who are We!!! PNG
I was there
We drove from Texarkana
I remember many details of the game well
Not as much the individual plays

I thought we couldn’t be beat

We were picked to win and should have. Eicher was hurt. Plano’s defense was strong with a future NFL player that made a lot of plays.. The Indians did not give their best effort that day. Overconfidence may have been a factor. That was the end of the good times as the 78,79 teams struggled.

I watched Billy Ray Smith like an iso camera
Which may have contributed to my thinking he was a huge factor
I saw how many times we double teamed him
I never before remember seeing signs (on the other side) talking about a single player (it’s commonplace now)
