Jim Blount was buried at Oak Bluff today. He was a proud member of the 1955 INDIAN team. He also coached at Port Neches Groves High School before serving his community as a State Farm agent. Tradition never dies. Always be faithful.

Blount was a member of the 1953 state championship team and 1954 state finalist team. May God comfort his family and friends.

Just joined Sports Talk yesterday and read the posts about the passing of Jim Blount and Herman Klinkhamer today. I played on the 53 team with them and remember both with fondness. Like myself Jim played football and was in the band also.

I could not be more proud of our team and our community. The spirit here is unmatched! I am so lucky to be a part of it and to wear the purple and white! The journey of this football season, with these coaches and our players, will stay with me forever.  -- PN-G Head Coach Jeff Joseph
