WOW! you people are incredible. Danaher is a very respectable man and there were a lot of factors that kept him in CC, including the fact that his adult children were dead set against him leaving that community. IndianFan you are 100% right. When he toured our facilities the coaches gave him the cold shoulder because they wanted Long to come in and go on with life as usual. When he saw that these coaches would treat their potential boss that way, he was turned off and knew that there were some deep-rooted problems with the staff. I am glad things turned out the way they did.... I love Coach Faircloth and staff! To call a good coach and man a moron based on hearsay is ridiculous. Someone please provide a link to his quotes bad-mouthing PNG. I will be waiting.

I did not mean to start anything. What I said was based on what I read as was reported in the Corpus Christi newspaper following his visit here, not on what someone told me. Even people I know personally from Calallen said he wanted a raise and got it by visiting PNG. Believe whatever you choose to, but I dislike anyone who bashes PNG.

I think it probably shows Fairclothes professionalism to be able and take those coaches rudeness and cold shoulder and still take the job, that must be why they are gone. Just goes to show you - you never know, the morons just gave themselves a big DECREASE in pay. Not only did they put themself in the frying pan, but their familys income being cut in this economy must be tuff.

For him to be able to work in the same district with Burnett says alot about his character and focus too.

BF is the best thing to happen to PNG since Doug Ethridge.

Who doesn't want a raise. Danaher was interested in the job.

Sorry, Indian Fan, but that's NOT what he (Danaher) said in their newspaper.

Understand. What's stated in public is often a facade. People do it here, and I'm sure they do it there. And of course he's going to say something like that in the paper to heal any wounds or bad feelings from showing interest in other jobs.

I can't, and won't reveal names but what I posted is straight from Danaher's mouth in a non-media situation.

PNG is an attractive situation even for a veteran coach such as Danaher. It's a storied program, new facilities, probably the best fan following in the state. And new excitement of trying to bring that program to a championship game.

IF Danaher had gotten a good feeling about the possibilities AND the salary had been sufficient, he very well may have decided to come here if offered the job. But the negative vibes put a stop to that.

But it's now irrelevant. My point is simply don't fall for what a reporter is told, or hearsay from citizens. And don't assume that he wasn't being straightforward.

The best man for the job (Faircloth) was hired and I hope he establishes his own dynasty and stays until he retires.

He was absolutely interested in the job, regardless of what a newspaper article says. I for one am very happy he does not have it and BF does.
