That will spice things up. I'm surprised that Ozen is slated to drop to 4A and they are opting to stay in 5A. They would wreck shop in 4A.

I'm really glad to hear this. I like the idea of PN-G and Memorial playing. The scrimmages between these two teams used to have a game-like atmosphere.

But in a way it's instant advantage to PA. They have about 600 more students than PN-G. So I guess Memorial is happy about that move.

Enrollment will continue to drop at PAM. Not much in PA to attract new families or keep the ones they have there. PN-G will do just fine competing against PAM. Nice to see a small increase in enrollment at PN-G. I hope that trend continues with more families buying homes and investing in the community and ISD...DO NOT ALLOW ANY NEW APARTMENTS in Port Neches or Groves. Promote home ownership and having families put down roots in the community.

I'm guessing that Ned's enrollment increased, since so many that move from PA school district, into Ned's (still living in PA). I wouldn't want that at all for PNG. Ned can have it. Even if it DOES mean losing to them on a regular basis. That's just 1 game.

Good trade off, in my book.

Oh, the advantage for Memorial is obvious, but personally, I think we could use some stiffer competition in district. It seems like every year, we're first or second in district, but struggle to make it to the second round of the playoffs against tough Houston area teams from tough Houston area districts. A tougher 22-5A may help remedy some of that. I think this is good for PN-G in the long run.

That said, looking at the new cutoff numbers, I don't understand why we ever added 6A. Didn't really fix the problem, if you ask me. Still massive disparities in the upper three classifications, and now we have some districts with a whole five teams in the lower classifications. The UIL has totally botched this.

In true PN City Council form they disbanded the P&Z Comm and fired the Fire CHief because the P&Z and Fire Chief said the apt.s would not be a problem in fire protection -3 story and more the 12 units under 1 roof.

SO they replaced the Fire chief and formed an alternate zoning group :duel: :pistols: :machinegun:

Love the way they do business!!!!

Its true the City Council replaced the zoning appeals board. Is also true that the property in questions is in NISD & was also already zoned for apartments--the owner didn't have to get permission from the city to build apartments. He asked for permission to build 3 stories so he could have enough units to build nice apartments and afford amenities like a pool, exercise facility, clubhouse, etc. The alternative is subsidized and/or lower income.
Didn't know that about Chief Curran...
