Well what ya got? Could this be our 1999 WOS game last night? If we come n 2nd we play SOC round 2 according to Tepper.
That's a good question now.Can someone please explain 3 way tiebreaker procedure for this district.
I reported it slightly wrong, as they were discussing in the context of at three way tie for third place and thus how the third and fourth places would be decided. So there is still 18pts max and reverts back to HCH after the HIGHEST seed is decided (not the third place). Nevertheless, in the example above by eazy money, it is my understanding that the way he described the outcome would be correct with regard to how the two highest seeds would be decided, and in the case of a three way tie for third place only teams A and B would advance. However, for a three way tie for first or second place all three teams would advance but the tiebreaker would decide the seedings by the same formula.I heard it was 18pts max and reverts back to H2H after third place team is decided. The info reportedly came from the Nederland coaching staff.
One good thing about all of this is losing #1 and the win streak. I can’t think of anything worse to be distracted by than a silly win streak or an arbitrary ranking. Now we can get back to football. Just play the next play. That’s what Nederland did.It will be a tough weekend for the players. They’re going to feel like they let everyone down, including themselves. The #1 rank, win streak nonsense is over. But they’re still a talented team with great coaching that needs to wake up and play like every quarter is the last. To steal a line from Trump, “it should have never happened.” The Indians played the last 13 minutes against Nederland like they could have played the entire game and won convincingly.
Come Monday they need to get back on that winning horse, and work harder than ever. Watch that game film and take ownership of any mistakes. And hold each other accountable. Tackle better, play the pass better, block better, run better, kick better. Run better plays. Coaches will soul search too.
Montgomery is in for a payback effort from the Indians.
Very true! I know the Coaches try to keep them focused and block all the State Championship, ranking, and win streak hype out, but they hear about it EVERYWHERE and it’s all over social media so it’s just hard for 15-17 year olds not to get distracted and caught up in it. Nederland can enjoy their “15 mins of fame” while we get back to business!!One good thing about all of this is losing #1 and the win streak. I’ve been hearing it in the stands all season. I hear fans talk about going to state as if it’s a guarantee, and obsess about the rankings both at games and on social media. I can’t imagine that doesn’t get to the players’ ears. So, as disheartened as I’ve been all season about how “off” everything seems, I’m pleased that we finally have a loss to learn from. Continuing to win would validate the things we’ve been doing wrong. Now we have a real, painful loss to our biggest rival to chew on and change from. Maybe it will be enough to mold us into something better. Because, if we’re being honest, we haven’t been the true #1 all season. Dave Campbell just couldn’t move us because we hadn’t yet lost. All the problems that hurt us against Nederland have been hurting us in every game this season. La Porte, Lake Creek, Huntsville - I count all of those as losses. The only difference between Nederland and those others is Nederland didn’t make the same mistakes and we weren’t as lucky against them. We need to be hungry and humble again.Very true! Back to the basics! Wrap up!The terms #1 ranked, defending state champs or a winning streak were never mentioned by this Indian fan. That’s bad mojo, jinx, tempting fate…
Time to tighten up and refocus on the little things that got you there.
