That's a pretty big deal. We've got a great coach here.

Interesting. And he's still not good enough to be the "coach of the year"? More proof that the local polls are a big joke!

Congrats Coach! We all know how good you are! We're proud of you!

Congratulation to Coach Faircloth!!! I bet he'll be able to bring 1 off. player and the Def. Coor. 1 def. player and the head coach bring 1 too.

Seems like the article said 3 to be selected. With BF's ties to the Head Coach there should be some professional courtesy, I would think.

With that said, Doty would seem good choice. He knows the system and how BF likes things done etc... It would surly help with exposure to College scouts at the game on the first signing day also, I believe. A relative (close) of his told me at a party some letters, I did not ask about offers.

Happy Season to all, I really enjoy these conversations!

This is a great honor for Coach Faircloth and our school. I never doubt his ability, but if there are any out there who do, this should be nuff said about his ability and reputation. Congrats Coach and can't wait for August 2011.

This makes me worry that Coach Faircloth will get too much recognition. Major colleges will be watching this and may want him for themselves. I guess I'm being selfish here but I would like to hide him from everyone so we can keep him. This is a great honor for a great coach though.

I hear you ... part of me feels the same way ... while another part of me says, "never fear good things happening to our programs or the coaches and players involved in the programs." We are doing things the right way at PN-G. PN-GISD provides a great education, our kids live in a great community (Port Neches, Groves, and Nederland), and the people living/working in Port Neches and Groves support excellence in the classroom and on the field/court/diamond/track, etc. Coach Faircloth can do great things at PN-G. The more exposure he gets, the more knowledge he soaks up on a national stage, at college programs, or at coaching schools, then all the better ... our kids will benefit. The people at PN-G want a winner. If someone sniffs around and wants Coach Faircloth, PN-GISD will do what it can to retain and keep him. We aren't a lame program or a Johnny Come Lately ... we have good facilities, competitive salaries, and great kids. Instead of worrying about what ifs ... I say, be proud ... why wouldn't good/great coaches stay at PN-GISD? We are PN-G. Decades of hardworking people have built greatness at PN-G. We will continue to be great and Coach Faircloth wants to be a part of it for a long time. Be proud. Believe in PN-G. We are PN-G.

Go Indians. Peace.

Understood, but keep in mind that this same publicity will make PNG attractive to other great coaches to come here, should BF ever leave, which I'm sure will happen in due time.

Briles won several State championships at Stephenville before getting an assistant job at Texas Tech. If we take care of Coach Faircloth, he will be around for a while. Proud is right, Coach Faircloth being successful and making PNG relevant statewide will help us find another top-notch coach. Also, with the high quality assistants he is bringing in, one of them may be the man for the job when he leaves. I hope he stays here for a long time and his kids graduate from PNG. I have heard that this is the community he wants to raise his kids in. Let's be proud of him and the recognition he is getting.

This is great recognition for Coach Faircloth. We need to keep letting him know how proud of him and for him we are. Does anyone have any information about tickets for the game?

Just a reminder...this game is tonight at 7:30. It is on channel 683 on Direct TV, not sure about cable or DISH. I am sure coach Faircloth will make us proud!

So...... I made it out to the game - dressed in purple, PN-G beenie, PN-G hoodie, etc and was holding a sign that said

PN-G <------ really big letters
WE LOVE OUR CHEIF
Coach Brandon Faircloth

He noticed right before the game started and smiled, did a thumbs up, motioned to another coach who turned around and smiled, and then coach Faircloth said THANK YOU with a thumbs up again! I stayed till halftime and caught him briefly on his way back out to the field and just said "Give em hell coach... I am NUMB and heading home (from the cold)" He said "thanks for coming, I appreciate it" and I left. I walked around with the sign for a while during the game, hoping I would get on TV and get PN-G some air time :). My wife said they really didn't show the crowd at all. So oh well. I said I would go to support the coach and I did. Mission accomplished! Folks, IT WAS FREEZING, BONE CHILLING COLD. It was 19-20 degrees out there with a wind chill of God knows what. It took me a while to find Coach Faircloth because everyone was so bundled up. I couldn't get any pictures, because my fingers would not work enough to even answer my phone. :cold :cold

The funny thing was, I had probably 7-8 different people come up to me and say "HEY! PORT NECHES-GROVES!" Pretty cool.
