Nederland Transfer to PN-G?

Read in the PA News just now that one of their starting tackles quit and has requested a transfer to PN-G. Apparently due to some falling out with Coach Newman & others on the team about Forney returning as QB. They confirmed that Coach Faircloth sent over the 'paperwork'. Check the PA News.

I heard about this at school today as well. I didn't catch a name, though. I'll see what I can find tomorrow.

Problems for the Dogs it appears. I coached Raines in BB and that kid is a great all around athlete. As far as Lack transferring, it will be interesting to see if the UIL allows him to play. If he does I don't know if he would start for the NDN's. We already have 2 very outstanding Offensive tackles. I wonder if there is more going on than what the article states over in Bulldog country ?

This was bound to happen sooner or later. I don't know if anything is going on at Ned. to cause it, but with our great coaching staff, facilities, and future facilities, it will draw people to our district. People want what we have, and with the best tradition and fans in the state, they want to experience that. I have heard many friends from other districts say how amazing our crowds are--and the game in San Antonio really re-inforced how special being an Indian is.

There are things going on on several fronts there. It is not just athletics. I have spoke to people in the know and let's just say the culture is changing. Academics are taking a hit and athletic participation is down. Neumann wants to win and that entails doing things that might not be popular and what the bulldog faithful are used to. Just take a look at the sidelines and you will see a Ned team with around 25 less players suited up than PN-G despite enrollment numbers that are very close. Central Middle School has fell to the same academic ratings as the PA middle schools. Not good.

I should note I have no insight into the latest issue. Just a general feel that through conversations with people that know all is not well in NISD.

HMMM didn't know that the dissension was beyond the football field. I know of several Nederland families that are wanting to move into the PNG district, not just for sports but for the academic accolades as well. It will be a interesting next few years to say the least.

I believe that with Nederlands growing ethnic diversity from the Shire Apts., Stonegate Subdivision etc...some are moving out. Many of these properties are Section 8,HUD etc... As far as moving to Pt. Neches - there is no more land for growth. Groves has lots of potential for growth for the PNGISD. That's my take from talking with one of the Administrators from NISD.

Same thing I was hearing along with a reduction in the number of students participating in athletics.

I have heard some people say it is time for change over there but the Neumann faithful don't want to hear it. Has a familiar ring to it doesn't it?

As with Matt, unless you are at a small school, about 8 - 12 years should be time to move on and up a notch

yeah from what i have heard the kid leaving because of the quarterback situation is total bull

I must ask then, what is the un-bull reason for his wanting to leave? I haven't heard anything to the contrary of what was published in the PAN.

Personal reasons between coach and the player. Unrelated to anything football. Thats just what ive heard. You gotta always look at other possible reasons. It may be an unsolved reason but i have a hard time thinking the kid would leave now after forney was declared starter at the beginning of the season.

I am sure it is a MUCH bigger picture than just Forney being the starting QB.

Why would you be shocked if UIL allowed this? Did everybody forget the player from PNG that moved to Nederland, our coach protested the student's eligibility, but, voila, the four members from this area on the UIL committee overruled Burnett and the kid started for the Dogs. Fortunately for us, he wasn't worth a darn. If they let Nederland recruit a player from here, how can they NOT let Lack play for the Indians if the coach sees fit to use him? Why punish the student for doing what he feels is right for him?

I don't see UIL allowing him to play since we already had the Peveto kid in this situation this year. And Peveto was here since the spring and UIL ruled him ineligible.
