2024 Preview

Coach: Jeramy Burleson. Lettermen R/L: 19/26. Starters returning O/D: 6/6. 2023: 3-8 4A DI bi-district finalist/2-3 district.

Players to watch: QB Ty Burleson (6-4, 195, 4.6), WR/DB Aljour Miles (6-3, 190, 4.6), RB Elijah Rose (5-8, 155, 4.5), LB Cole Martin (5-11, 200, 4.7). Top juniors: RB/DB Pate Bowers (6-0, 210, 4.6), WR/DB Chance Fanus (5-10, 175, 4.7). Top sophomore: RB/DB Justiz Prox (6-1, 170, 4.6).
Other prospect: WR/DB Jeremiah Brown.

2024 notes: Kaufman makes the move back to Class 5A and despite last year’s struggles the Lions were able to secure a playoff spot. Burleson says depth is a concern being the smallest 5A school in the state, but he likes the front-line talent returning. QB Burleson (2,135 yards, 18 TDs passing; 8 TDs rushing) is back for a third season to operate the offense, while junior WR/DB Miles (58-971, 11 TDs receiving) returns after a big sophomore campaign. Junior RB Rose (447 yards, 6 TDs rushing) is looking for a breakout campaign toting the mail. The defense is led by sophomore LB Martin (87 tackles, 2 sacks, 1 INT) who led the team in tackles as a freshman. RB/DB Prox played in 11 games as a freshman a year ago and will likely be a two-way starter in 2024.

I can't believe on a Thursday I am surprised they did not get a Friday pick on it because of the people that have to work on a Friday.
That’s just another BIG downfall with us being moved to Region 2 cause there’s a lot of teams still in the playoffs and fewer decent sized stadiums to choose from reasonably close so it probably came down to playing on Thursday or face a much longer drive…ugh!
