I have been very reluctant about posting on here, because I am sure what I have to say will fall on deaf ears, but I hate to see them tear down the Cosmo. Building. What a waste of tax payer’s money. That building was finished and had the first class go through it in 1977, which means the building is barely 30 years old. I was in the second full (two year) class to graduate out of the cosmetology building. I understand times change and repairs have to be done, but there is not much left to the original school from approx. 1980 on back. I think the only thing still left standing is the boy’s gym, the old girls gym and the auditorium. Not many memories for an old alumni to come back to. Original stadium - now gone, original cafeteria(s), library, band hall, choir room, field house, patio, nurse’s room ( ), office, cosmetology, HOSA room and vocational office are now all gone. I guess it is a matter of time they will tear down the old boy’s gym and auditorium. The Planetarium was being built the year I graduated. Never stepped foot in it, but I understand they are suppose to tear it down also. If that is true no wonder PNG has high taxes. Wasted taxes. And what a waste of a nice patio. Some really good memories on that patio.
If the school board had been smart, they would have relocated the stadium (which was purposed in the 70's) to a larger piece of property (with better parking). Than tear down the old stadium, which would allow for future growth onto the school. They would not have had to tear down any existing buildings, causing tax payers money waste. Money they would have saved could have been used to build the stadium they had originally purposed. O well, I guess from now on PNG school is nothing but a memory to me. Good memories.
