Good W vs. an improved Ozen team. OL played well vs an Ozen defense that was tall, had some length on the DL / DE and some quickness in the secondary. Ozen has gotten better from years past. They have a good coach, and if they keep him and let him install a program, he will have tough teams year in and year out. I thought PN-G got a lucky break on the Ozen pooch kick. I don't understand why the Ozen player could not make a play on the ball when it is in the air? Any referees out there? The run game was there for PN-G all night. Nice game PN-G OL! 2 and 3 yard pops, followed by a 10-12-14 yard run. Halfin ran tough and secured the ball. A credit to the OL. On defense, we played hard, chased the OB, but could not get to him often enough. That's OK, we has some pressure and played hard. We had some bend, but did not break. That is HS football. As long as the kids play hard, what more can you ask for? Our secondary gave up some throws, but we did not get beat deep and our DBs created some takeaways when the opportunity was there. Love the DB play of #23, #12, #3, and #9. Its ok to give up some throws. The other team is going to make some plays. But, the Indians don't get beat deep and they swipe INTs when the ball is not well thrown by the other team. On special teams, why don't we kick FGs? When it is 4th and 8 and we are in the red zone, give the FG kicker a shot. He's pretty good on PATs and shows some pop on the ball. Not complaining, just asking. Very proud of the coaches and players. The team was fired up and ready to play, no hang-over from Nederland. Good job coaches. The players were resilient and played hard. On defense, #41, #48, #47, #22, #5, they all chase the ball. Good job!
On to the Central Jaguars. Saturday, Nov. 1 will be tough physical game. Central will be the most physical team PN-G has faced all year.
How is #22? OK? On a different note...#5 for PN-G is not the biggest guy in the world, but he is ALWAYS around the football...on defense and special teams, that guy finds the football. Some guys have instinct and good things happen. That is #5 for PN-G. He just shows up around the football on defense and special teams.
Go Indians. Peace.
