Maybe drag the TE behind LB for a TD pass?
Defenses are stacked to plug those gaps and also attack from the edge and drag down the runner. As big as the o-line is, they didn't get much of a push on a couple of those runs. Unless the back hits it hard and fast, he'll be stopped. Agreed that some options exist. Coaches will figure it out.

Re the wildcat play with #6, it's just too crowded, and too much of a traffic jam to get anywhere easily. Sometimes less is truly more, wrt blockers and people running interference. Last season's 3rd and short bread and butter play seemed to be pretty much scouted out and its' effectiveness winding down during last seasons playoffs, although some defended it better than others.
Going forward into the playoffs there needs to be some variation. It'll still work against SF, Ned and GP.

Enterprise Game Balls for Week 8 in Southeast Texas

Nguyen had an outstanding game as usual behind an overpowering offensive line and probably deserves a game ball in every game. But IMO a game ball should have gone to sophomore QB Conner Bailey who had a break out game with 200 yards passing, multiple TDs, and no turnovers. That was huge as this offense finally begins spreading the field and forcing opposing defenses to back off. That in turn will enable the running attack even more.
Continued improvement in the passing game is critical for the chances of the deep playoff run we all want. It’s clear by now that Bailey has the skills to be the next great PNG QB and it is fortunate that we appear to be set at that position for the next few years. However, I am sure I am not alone in being hungry THIS year. Fortunately, the coaching staff is doing a good job of breaking Bailey into the role and I am becoming increasingly confident that he will be ready when the playoffs roll around.

I’ll risk saying it. This team is better than last year. The defense is much better. The offensive line is at the same level if not better. The running back is the same. And Bailey is coming around at QB with capable receivers ready to catch the ball. If Shea Adams can make it back as another receiver and wildcat QB, then even better. By the time the playoffs roll around I think they are better prepared to win than last year. There is no better time than this season to win it all.

I’ve been thinking this, myself. This team is definitely farther along at this point in the season than last year’s team was through seven games. If we can stay healthy, continue this rate of progress and get Shea back, then I expect another very deep run.

At this time of the season compared to last year 100% agree
I think the defense peaked after the long TD run vs Brenham (QB)
That was a turning point
Then during LH they were nearly flawless minus that one long run
Then vs The Dancing Bears they were incredible
If they had #18 and #10 they would win it this year. (Still can) nothing against the WRs his year we reload at that position specifically yearly
