PN-G Back-Up QBs

PN-G QBs:

1. Roschon Johnson
2a. Austin Bost
2b. ?

When the Indians are leading 42-0, is there a back-up QB to run the offense? I know Austin Bost is the back-up if, Lord forbid, RJ gets injured. I know that Bost is our starting LB and the leader/QB of the defense...he gets everyone lined up and makes the reads/adjustments for the defense. PN-G needs him all over the field. I get that. And, if necessary, I know that the Indians can use Bost on offense as a RB, slot WR, QB, Wildcat, etc. But, when PN-G is blowing out an opponent, is there a back-up QB besides Bost? Using a back-up will help the Indians avoid an unnecessary injury to RJ and Bost. Maybe give Bost a few reps at QB to calm down the back-ups and then get another QB into the game to run the basic offense and burn the clock?

I'm not complaining, second-guessing the coaches, or trying to be jerk. Honest question.

Listening to the PN-G v. Lumberton game, the PN-G radio team announced quite a few back-ups in the game during the late 3Q and 4Q...RBs, WRs, and on defense. It made me think about the QB spot.

Go Indians. Peace.

This is a crazy good question because I was thinking the same thing lastnite as I watched the last quarter of the game. Bost is the back up on varsity , Rodgers is a jr behind bost and then you have bost little brother the JV QB he's will take over when Johnson leaves , but yea to answer your question Bost needs to take some reps when we get ahead but I will not question our coaches in what they do

Another consideration, Johnson is still a young player with only 14 or so games under his belt. Maybe he needs the reps.

Bost is a sr and leader on d. I think because he plays so much on d it makes them hesitant to switch them. I imagine in a lot of situations Bost may be winded coming off the field from D due to the nature of his position, chasing, tackling, and fighting, through blocks all game. That's just a guess though.

I'm good with giving RJ reps and with Bost being the second guy at QB. The Indians have two incredible talents that can play QB. RJ is special. Best deep ball thrower I can think of at PN-G. Beautiful arc and precision on the deep ball. His name will be atop the record books. I'm asking who is after Bost? I don't want RJ or Bost getting a senseless injury when PN-G is blowing out the opponent. I hope we have a back-up in the rotation that can run the basic offense, i.e., hand-off to the RB and burn some clock late in the game when the Indians are winning by 42 points. Kuddos to the coaches vs. Lumberton. Per the PN-G radio announcers, the Indians played a lot of reserves/back-ups in the 4Q. Just wondering about the depth chart at the QB spot. Thanks to all who posted and shared info on this thread. Good discussion/good stuff. This season has the makings of something really special.

Go Indians. Peace.

Could they be trying to get his stats up more?

Nope. He only threw the ball 15 times.

In the 4th quarter, he was reading defenses and turning around handing the ball off chewing up the clock. Also, after the pick 6 in the middle of the 3rd quarter, we didn't come close to another TD, although if we wanted to there is no doubt in my mind that we would have. We could have reached 60+ in this game but we shut it down.

Austin Bost's Little Brother will take over when Johnson is gone , he's a south paw looks really promising IMO

No doubt that Faircloth took the foot off the gas. It's commendable to show courtesy to the coach and players of an opposing team. Especially those that are so overmatched. The Indians could have probably completed those long TD passes to Riggs all night long. Or if Lumberton had over committed to stopping Riggs, the Indians would have easily scored in other ways.

There's a definite concern with injuries, but the flip side to that is Johnson and others, including a bunch of sophomores, are getting needed reps. Given the disrupted practice and game schedules, and
Not even playing a first game, they need the reps for the offense to fire on all cylinders before we engage the better teams.
