Don’t take too much from that Burton kid. He had some good catches and that kickoff return was impressive, the uncalled block in the back notwithstanding.

Pretty much it in the article.

21 to 7 with 11:50 to go in the second quarter.

O and D line dominated with Nguyen having a great game and Conner playing superb as a Soph QB on the #6 team in the great state of Texas

The Stings had no answer for PN-G running back Isaiah Nguyen, who plowed through the TC defense for 203 yards on 24 carries, including a 79-yard touchdown run on the second play of the third quarter that gave the Indians a 28-16 lead.

Texas City...plywood for stands? TCISD, you can do better than that. PN-G's defense is not the biggest or the fastest, but they are in the right spots, they pursue the football, and they get people on the ground. Texas City could not block PN-G's front three on the DL. The Indians DL blew up Texas City all night long. Texas City's Caleb Bell is a nice back, but he's not 225 lbs. He might be 5'8" and around 200 or 205. He got loose on the long run, and credit to him for that, but he wanted no part of PN-G's DL for most of the night. In the 4th quarter, the Texas City QB wanted no part of PN-G's DL. On the other side of the ball, what can you say about PN-G's #33. Tough as nails. He hits the hole with no fear and he's faster than you think. Texas City was loading up on the run, and PN-G's OL just flexed its muscle. I read where some thought the play calling ws conservative. I thought it was just right. PN-G went jumbo with the wildcat and pushed the ball down Texas City's throat. They ran the basic offense and #33 ran wild. When they had to throw the ball, they did it well. You can see #9 getting more and more confidence. He made some nice throws in the first half and then the out route for the last TD was right on the money. Just need to tighten up the kick-off coverage and return game. They will do better. On the return that set-up the safety against us, the kid just had a brain freeze. That's OK. That's fixable. He wanted to make a play, but the muff on the initial grab just threw the timing of the return off. On Texas City's kick-off return, we can tighten up those return lanes. That, too, is fixable. All the kids played hard. The district opponents better get used to Cherokee. They will be hearing it alot. FBM down, Texas City down, Willowridge is next, and then bring on Dayton.
