Anybody have a daughter play in this league? My daughter is 5 and I am curious to how long the season is and what to expect. I am assuming it is tee-ball. Anyone?

I have 3 girls, the oldest being 19, so we have been with the league for 14 yrs. The season runs from March to May and it can run into June or July with State Tournaments. The 6 and under tournament is usually local(Beaumont) but I don't know what kind of damage they got from IKE or if they will have it in Beaumont this year. Registration is this weekend at the ballpark, usually in the concession stand and use the back door. Let me know if you need more info...

Yes, if you want to call it that at that age - they are so cute!!! Oh, I forgot to tell you, I can't remember if it is coach pitch or hitting off a tee at this - been too long ago - but I will check for you.

It is coach pitch. The girls have a BLAST!!! My daughter plays ABall now so we are out at the fields in Bmt every week for practice and there was no damage, so if the state tourny for 6-under is at the College street complex, there will be no problems other than they still haven't replaced the cover on the stands that Rita destroyed.

I didn't know she was playing A ball!!! She is such a sweet girl and a heck of a ball player. We will miss her...

Wow, my daughter is barely 5 and has never played. I figured it was t-ball. I don't know if she is ready for coach pitch. I might have to wait until next year.

Mel,

She thinks she might want to play league too, so we will see.

Akifan,

My daughter started playing when she was 4. The girls get 5 pitches to hit the ball and if they don't, well we all know it is the pitcher's fault! LOL  She will have so much fun. You should let her play. My little girl was HORRIBLE at that age, but she had a ball. Most of the time she played in the dirt and the umps just moved her out of the baseline and let her go to town. PNGSL is a great place to learn the game and develop a love for it.

Obviously I don't want a repeat of last year when someone promised their daughter would be there and well... we all know that story, so we aren't sure how it is going to work, but she loves playing league with her friends, so we will see.

Oh good. I hope she does get to play with us.

akifan - the coach she is referring to would be my husband ;D - We used to call him Nolan Ryan - he could pretty much strike out his whole team!!!! ;D
It is a good place for them to learn the game. If you want to wait, I can understand, but all 3 of mine started a 4or 5 and my oldest played for the high school and would probably still be playing if she wasn't studying so hard to become a nurse. She does play sometimes just for fun and she still enjoys the game. There is also Fall Ball that comes around in September - provided we have no hurricanes. This is the more relaxed time for them to learn.

I signed her up Saturday. I think she will be fine and she is excited to play. Thanks for all the info.

Oh good!!! You will be surprised how much they learn. Please let me know if you have any questions once things get started.

If you are talking about my daughter not being there for allstars, I want to make one thing perfectly clear, we promised nothing and as a matter of fact we made if very, very, very clear to NDNS81's husband that we most likely would not be there for Allstars. We had reservations about playing in the league to begin with last year because we would not be there every game and I was promissed it would not be an issue by NDN81's husband. Just wait. Your daughter is now playing A ball and you are finding out that a lot of time and money goes into it and when the A ball state tourneys roll around it is top priority.

As far as the league goes, I would and do recommend anyone with a young one to get them in the league. You would be amazed at how quickly your daughter will pick up the coach pitch. It is so much better than tee ball. She will enjoy it and you will really enjoy it as well.
