Defense impressed me alot today for not having a large D linemen !!! very fast and hard hitting !!! I was worried during the spring game about the D, but after today I saw a totally different Defensive team !!! Very impressed !

From what I could decifer, the D has a rotation system based upon what down and yardage there is. They would change a few players various circumstances. 2nd and 8 they had different linemen in, and then on 3rd and short they would bring in some one else. Not big players on the D line but very fast and physical. I was very impressed with the play of the defense today. The offense seemed to have alittle trouble at first with getting it going. I think they were running some new plays and they didn't have them down pat yet on the blocking area's. they ran the reverse 2 times and the second time they got stuffed in the back field. The Defense sent some heck a ish stunts and bliitz's in on the offense which seemed to catch them off guard a little. As compared to the spring game, the Defense had the upper hand today to me ! I was concerned in the spring game about the defense, but the way they played today I feel very confident that they will be able to cause other teams some serious problems and possibly be the deciding factor in some games.

All I can say is our Offensive Line is MASSIVE!!!!!
I agree 100% with that statement. Our power running game should be extremely effective this year as well. Also the JV and Freshmen have some good size on their offensive lines also. PNG should have some dang good O lines over the next 4 years !!!

Whoever stated that our DLine was small????

D. Davis is 6'5" and 260
T. Thompson is 6'1 and 260

Also guys that last year were thin have put on some bulk like Raggio and Dunbar.

OK Sorry regarding the D line, but they looked small compared to the O line. Just my observation. Does anyone know how they may be running the D with the personnel changes ? I heard the coach yelling 2nd and 8 and a new group would come on the field, and yell 3rd and short and then another group would come on the field. Do you think they are running a switch out D for each down ? Curious !

At the 1st of the scrimmage they were doing situational plays..3rd and 6, 3rd and 2...etc. They were switching 1st and 2nd teams mostly I believe. Boudoin had the defensive starters right. During the spring game we didn't run any stunts or blitzes because there were scouts from a lot of schools watching..this comes straight from one of the D starters. In practice we do practice those stunts and blitzes. Nobody freak out if the defense doesn't look as good against Memorial..I am sure Faircloth won't show his hand in a scrimmage, plus you don't game plan for a team in a scrimmage. He may even play it pretty vanilla in our pre-district games. I am sure he wants to have the other coaches in the district guessing a lot this season.
