Defense is what's losing the games IMO right now. Of course none of us are coaches, we might think we are, but I say start playing some kids both ways. I'm reaching for anything to get our team better, and I don't know if that would work. Atleast try it out and see.

On the last play, the center snapped the ball too early, and Doty was still looking at the sidelines. Ball hit him in the side of the head, and bounced around on the ground. He never saw it coming.

Haven't seen too many high school teams with the speed/talent to play anything other than zone pass coverage. I think WO-S did it in '99 when they played the Indians, but that was a long time ago so I may be mistaken.

I think if the DB coaches felt they could be playing tighter they would.

Dang! Well when you are trading points every miscue is going to hurt.

I wish they go back to the old personnel of last year.

Id have Lunceford playing NT if they stick with this 3-4 system. They are not getting any help in the middle of the line currently. He would be a terror in there for opposing offenses and it would also free up Shake on the end.

Just my opinion.

The D has to be revamped now or else we may be facing a 1 or 2 game win season. Find your speed players and put them in the secondary of the D. Play up close and bump with man to man and double man coverage. Get some size at linebacker ! To small in my opinion. If your going to salvage this season your gonna have to stop doing what were doing ! Because it isn't working ! (referring to the D) Insanity is doing the same thing over and over again and expecting a different result ! Well its beyond insanity now. There are alot of boys on the sidelines not playing. Its time to reach in there and pull out some of that talent ! We have to try something ! If we keep with the same thing its going to be a very long next 5 weeks. (referring to the D)
The D line actually had a decent night. THey had some good pressure on the QB and they each had good tackles. When our linebackers would blitz they were knocked around and down. Need bigger size at inside backers. DJ would be good there. And number 42. Good size and he is fast. Oh and stop the 3 man D front. We need more pressure off the start ! I feel we have 1 decent D back. Change it up, try others guys out there ! who cares if they are mostly a O backup, heck maybe they have the speed and skill to cover one on one.
I can say alot of folks are very frustrated with the D ! we keep seeing it over and over again. Why on earth would you allow a team to keep throwing 5-10 yard passes on you all night ? Our D secondary is giving them that in this zone coverage package. These boys are not in the NFL. Its obviously not working so change it ! you would think 5 games into the season and we get killed on passing you would think something would have changed by now.

We miss Dunbar, Kerr and Benoit. I find it hard to believe we don't have the athletes to cover people.

Well I feel that the DC is gonna stick with what we currently run. If He was gonna change the D and the personel it would have already happened considering what has happened in the games before Nederland. Maybe they need to look at the JV for some help. They have some hoss' ! I guess all we can do is put the faith in the coaches and see what happens. Like Faircloth said he dosen't play players both ways. Maybe its time to change that thinking some. If were gonna win another game somethings gotta change on the D. The O is doing its part and doing it well, except for the snap last night and the fumble. My question is: how do you put up over 500 yards of total offense and lose a game ?

Give the coaches some credit, they have surely assessed all the defensive backs and have the best out there as starters.

Some seasons the heart and desire is there, but you just don't match up well.

The same way you score 42 points and still lose a game ???

i know we are all upset with the outcome of the game last night and frustrated with the defense, but the games we have lost have all been within 7 points. I think we have a good team, but have had some tough breaks so far this year.
I dont think the Indian Nation needs to give up on our boys ever. In my opinion we need to support them now more than ever. I think its time for the family, friends, and fans to become the 12th man these boys need right now. We need to show up at the Reservation next week in full force and be as loud as we have ever been and show them we are going to help pull them through the rest of the season.......We Love You INDIANS

yeah... the Nederland side of the stadium was VERY quiet for the last 2.5 mins or so. I love that our boys ALWAYS play to the end, no matter what!

Right. We can't give up on our guys & coaches. We had some bad breaks this year but we still were in every game till the end. Last year we had our share of good breaks (i.e. missed extra point (BH), run back of blocked extra point kick (CEN), etc) and we went 10-0. Breaks even out over time so maybe we are now even and can start winning again.

While this is certainly a disappointing loss and season up to this point in terms of wins, please remember that despite the win-loss columns, the players on the field are living their dreams and giving their best.
There have been many, many past PN-G teams who had the same pride in wearing purple and white as any team in the past who unfortunately had losing records.

This season has been a paradox in some ways. In certain categories this team is as good or better than the 2009 team was. In some areas it's not. A few breaks are really all that separate the 2010 team from the same early 2009 success.
In 2009 three of the first four wins were by a total of 14 points. In 2010 three of the first four losses have been by 16 points. The game last night could have gone either way.

So don't begin tearing things down. There are 5 games left and 100% support will benefit everyone and everything.

'Indian Spirit' and pride will not allow the players to give up. And the coaches will be doing their best to adjust.

So as fans consider doing the same and get behind the team.
