I think we will pack the stands, cheer really loud, play football with honor and pride and uphold the PN-G traditions that make the Indians sooo great!

Quoting MB from the PAsnooze."We just couldnt keep up with their speed."If Ozen had to much speed then im going to say Central has too much speed.Sry but thats the truth. We cant continue playing out of place on defense and not expect to get burned. You cant practice against speed if you dont have any.Its going to be hard for PNG to compete if we dont have the speed on the field.Fri night is going to be a battlelets hope we can hang onto the ball and make some play and come out with a W.

I always predict the Indians to win ... we could be playing the 1972 Miami Dolphins, Bill Walsh's SF 49ers dynasty, Jimmy Johnson's Dallas Cowboys dynasty, or a team of 11 Chuck Norris Walker - Texas Rangers ... and ... I would support the Indians and predict a Tribe victory. Keep fighting, give great effort, play hard, and enjoy life at PN-G HS.

Go Indians. Peace.

I believe the Indians always win, if not in numbers, in heart. We have CHEROKEE, THE RESERVATION, PURPLE AND WHITE and the list could go on and on. But most of all we have that SPECIAL SPIRIT. It is a spirit that most schools could only dream about. You only know it if you have experienced it. It is a spirit that keeps people coming back. It is felt throughout the community and passed on through generations.

This Friday Night is about the kids. It is about the Seniors. It is the last time they will run out to CHEROKEE and look up in the stands at the PURPLE that has come to support them. It is the last time the Indianettes, Indian Twirlers, drum majors, and Indian Spirit will put on thier headdresses. And the last time the Seniors will perform the Marching I. Let’s try to make it the best for these kids. It is something that they have worked so hard for, to accomplish their dreams since they were lil’ Indians. Saturday morning it will all be over and will be memories for the rest of their life. Let’s make it good one.

Let me start off by saying I hope the Indians win, the seniors really deserve this one...But i also think we need to be practical Central smoked nederland and we got beat like nobody's business by nederland. I would love to see us play spoiler to Central season, but i do not see that happening. This season has been a travasty, a sham, and a mockery, a travashamokery, especially after last year's great run. I am not trying to hate on the team, I am PNG born PNG bred and when I die I will be a PNG dead... I just a practical thinker. Ok I am getting off of my soap box.

1. I say we go out show the team we still care, because in beaumont it was depressing so see such empty stands for the "Faithful." I am rooting for the Indians 100%. Lets give these seniors one last HORAAH of a memory as an Indian.

2. If that is not enough, we could always be watching the last game coached by MB.

Either one is incentive enough to get me there

GO Indians, win one for us all

" If that is not enough, we could always be watching the last game coached by MB."

We can only hope. There needs to be a change before the program backslides anymore.

Well.. the way I see it, it will definetly be the last time Welch will be stepping on the field as OC of the Indians. About time for this position to be offered to someone else. For Burnett, I know he will be back but he is finally realizing his offense needs a new approach, with a new coach. But I cant wait to see those seniors battle thier a## off and fight like Indians. On another post I read about backups getting scholarships?? Not ever..No offense to the back ups but if a player cant compete and play on high school level, there is no way they can hop on a college team with a scholarship. Think of all the PNG starters in the past that could nave played college level and did not get anything.. Just my view.

I won't be at the game. I will be sitting at home with my baby girl who has the flu. I will be listening and talking on the board. Good luck to the boys on their last game. I will be cheering you on.

I'd like to see an established, imaginative, and well respected OC, but I also remember what an outstanding job that coach Welch did with the O-Line before he was promoted. I would like to see him remain in that capacity. Don't forget folks, Dan was the coach over many an undersived and overachieving O-Line at PNG. He taught technique not just brute strength.

PNGBax, wasn't Dan the O-Line coach in '99. They had a couple of sub 200 lb linemen on that team that frustrated opponents because they where fundamentally more sound. I think some of that has been lost in recent years since Dan became OC. If we're not bigger than them we get manhandled.

Yup he sure was.I think we had 2 or 3 guys that were 180 to 200lbs.I guess that has gone out the window when they got bigger o-linemen.PNG has never been the biggest or the fastest but what we lacked in those areas we made up with technique and proper assignments.everybody knew what to do and where to be.seems like we have lost technique for size.

Technique makes all the difference. Some people don't agree with looking back at the past but some of the most successfull teams in PN-G history (1974-77) featured small offensive lines that usually dominated the opponent. Coached by Butch Troy who emphasized technique, quickness, aggressiveness, and execution, they held their own and more against opposing players often weighing 30-50 pounds more. Of course high school players today are much larger on average, but fundamental techniques are the key to success at any level. A quote from 1977 says it all:

"They're the best drilled team I've witnessed in 20 years. I felt like we had the best shot at beating them because of our size. They were just like a machine out there. They have a great organization and it shows." -- 1977, Kashmere Head Coach Felder on PN-G

This season the offensive line had some good size and experience but had a tough time with pass protection and run blocking. Wright, Harmon, Tatum, and the rest of the skill position players would have been much more productive this year if the Indians had won the line of scrimmage. Hopefully that will be an area of focus in the offseason.
