No comment.SOC does not belong in 5A. Period
Two weeks ago, and since I first saw RR play earlier this season way back in September, I thought the Lions would win the 5A-DII state championship. HOWEVER, after PNG played SOC last week, I think SOC has a real shot to shut down RR and win the hardware again. I think PNG poked and woke-up the sleeping giant Golden Bear. SOC's defense is legit. They have size, speed, and violent tacklers at all three levels. RR v. SOC should be a great game. I'm changing my season long prediction and now I'm leaning slightly in favor of SOC. The Indians woke them up and they are playing their best football. They can flat out shut you down. RR's OL is no better than PNG's OL and SOC got focused and shut us down. I think they can do the same to RR. What does everyone else think?
And we were way too predictable imo that is why we got beat.Because we were one dimensional.
You can be predictable and even one dimensional in football and still outplay the other team. PNG was not strong enough in the available dimensions. The other team wanted it more and did everything it took, legal and illegal to do the job. We didn't have the players in all positions this year to make it to state or win it. Only a handful out of 1500+ teams do. Still a very good year for the Indians. A good core returning next year. And we were way too predictable imo that is why we got beat.
Accurate. We never want to criticize players, but objective analysis of the sport supports your observations. I’ll restate the comments about the mental aspect. It was not as strong this year. For whatever reason. We lost too many experienced leaders.Difference is last years team had some cocky, confident dogs in the secondary and at OLB. This years secondary played much more timid. Combine that with no big threat over the middle like Shea Adams and play calling that leaned way too much on the run all season, you get what happened against SOC. A superior talented team that walked over us, and pretty much everyone they have played. I am not a moral victories person but it says alot that PN-G is the only 5A team to score 14 points on their starters.
BINGO! SOC, D-Ville, DeSoto, North Shore…etc etc are ALL using open enrollment to play the “transfer portal” game! Just like SOC did after losing to “lil ole PNG” last year… how much you wanna bet DeSoto is gonna “acquire” some new additions in the offseason after taking a BIG L to Longview? Honestly, if the UIL is gonna continue to look the other way, I can’t say I blame them but it doesn’t change the FACT that it creates an unfair ADVANTAGE and only gonna get WORSE until something is done about it!! I’m sure there’s NO “easy” solution but they could start by requiring the open enrollment schools, 5A and below, to PLAY UP a division if they have a consistent # of transfers and the MAJORITY of them are participating in Football/Athletics!SOC does not belong in 5A. Period
That’s a very logical idea as well…if only the UIL understood LOGIC…ugh! I say use THEIR words against them because they stated splitting teams into Div I, II and all the shuffling around during realignment is NECESSARY in order to maintain a FAIR and LEVEL playing field so the SAME reasoning should apply to this situation!!Maybe they should form a semi-high school league in Texas. And let the teams that play with players from their own districts/fairly zoned area play each other, and the other teams, who build their roster from wherever they want, play in their league. The same applies to the teams in FL, CA and other states that are always nationally ranked. Of course if rules, fairness and common sense no longer matter, then it’s a moot discussion. Just deny it’s happening or criticize those that call it out.
Or if Randle is as successful with bending the rules. The amount of holds and unsportsmanlike conduct that Oak Cliff gets away with is off the charts.

I could not be more proud of our team and our community. The spirit here is unmatched! I am so lucky to be a part of it and to wear the purple and white! The journey of this football season, with these coaches and our players, will stay with me forever. -- PN-G Head Coach Jeff Joseph
