SLC has assembled some good coaches on their staff. There is a lot of value in keeping that together. The formula has worked.
I’ve always realized that the head coaches receive a lot of credit but the coordinators and assistants are often the backbone of success. Take Doug Ethridge for example. Yes he was a great coach and manager. But many don’t realize or just forget that he had elite coaches on his staff like Bruce Bush, Greg Davis, Tim Nunez, and others in the 70’s. Those coaches were very, very talented. Davis had great success as a college OC, Bush is one of the winningest HC in Texas high school football history, and Nunez was a great college coach. And Butch Troy was the master behind those great, undersized offensive lines. The other coaches were excellent in their own right even if they didn’t coach at the next level. But having a great HC is a blessing on top of all that and no less important to winning. They just can’t ‘be all and do all’.
No surpirse. It's been discussed for weeks. Sounded like the kids wanted him, the parents wanted him, and now the admins want him! Good. Hands off Coach Joseph and Coach McDaniel.
