Stephenville Defense is the real deal. Size and speed isn’t much different than PNG they just get after it. There MLB is all over the field.

I think LBJ has made my point for me about the suburban schools. Austin ISD hasn't fielded a state championship contender since 1973. LBJ falls to the rural-dominated 4ADI class for one alignment cycle, and suddenly they're marching to the state championship.

I can see it now. Houston’s seventh loop starting in Port Arthur, curving around to Madisonville, then over to La Grange and down to Victoria. Yoga studios, toll lanes and HOAs everywhere.

LBJ doesn't service the urban core of Austin proper; that's mostly covered by the old Austin High and, to a lesser extent, by Anderson. LBJ and the former Reagan High, now Northeastern, cover several neighborhoods in the northeast portion of the city, bordering Pflugerville and stretching out toward Manor. The area looks much more suburban than urban, though it's not as affluent as Cedar Park or Round Rock.

Its also an early college HS, which means it may accept students from across the district.

You attended Alabama U, correct?

That’s a fair point, but the decision to open up the school’s enrollment to anyone in the district is a very recent change (two years ago, if I recall correctly), and I’m skeptical of how much it’s really shifted the student population around. It’s not really possible for kids who live off of Oltorf or Stassney, or over in Northwest Hills, to go to LBJ because of traffic and distance. LBJ also had a lot of community pride in the part of town it’s in once upon a time, so I’d bet most of the locals would still choose to send their kids there instead of Reagan or anywhere across town. At least, that’s my observation.

And yes, I did go to Alabama for undergrad.
