The setxsports.com message board produces the following on systems that have AVG anti-virus and security products installed.
I have no idea what's causing it but suspect that advertising is the culprit. It's serious in my opinion and important to bring to your attention.
Not at all cool.

I tried to say something to them before and they deleted my post. I know Coop comes to this site but he deletes the post also.

I've been getting that too, here lately. Also, if you sit very long, (like 45 seconds) you get re-directed to another (commerce) site. Plus, you can't back-page to the site. You have to close it and start over.
I've been complaining over there for MONTHS about it. Sometimes it gets better, but it always returns (I guess when they want more revenue).

This makes me appreciate THIS site even more!

It's disappointing to see web sites that force such content on users. Especially one that is designed to offer content to high school football fans. But to publish ads that invade user's privacy is inexcusable and inappropriate. That goes for any site out there.

I want to clarify that setxsports is a good concept in that it provides a place for many area fans to talk about their schools. Especially communities that don't have their own dedicated web site.

But that doesn't justify placing users in a situation that places crap on their computer for any reason. Many people are innocently unaware that ad services place ad-ware and spyware on their systems to track their browsing activity.

If you think this comes off as vindictive, keep in mind that this site was around long before setxsports was ever a twinkle in anyone's eye. I understand the challenges of maintaining a web site as well as anyone. And I understand that it costs money to maintain a web site. But I also believe that SE Texas fans shouldn't be subjected to these types of things while following their passion for sports.

Let's keep it real. Adware and spyware has advanced to the point that it's less detectable. You may call it safe as a matter of interest, but none of us want it on our systems. It's best not to subject people to those advertisements that place cookies, etc on computers for tracking activity.

Navigating to setxsports and opening two message board topics placed the following cookies on my system. This would have probably multiplied if I continued. Some cookies serve a valid purpose in preserving session state. The cookie listed as setxsports.com would serve that purpose. But all the others are ad related cookies and used for an entirely different purpose. As users navigate to other sites, those ad cookies are tracked.

No one can argue with THAT information.

I'm mad as hell and can't take it anymore. ;D The internet has been ruined because of this kind of garbage. I'm ready to do battle against adware, spam-bots and anything else that's intrusive. The only way we can reclaim our right to browse the web safely is to object and call out sites that don't respect that.
