Interesting so far....I agree with some of our younger coaches having the potential, however I am pretty confident that I've seen alot of young guys currently in 3A-5A Head positions that would drop it to be at PNG...Will be interesting in the future as to the direction the program goes in...Just thought it would be a neat poll for the threads!

Do i think he has done a good job...Sure he has, do I also think it's time for a change? Yes I do. I think that we will always have the support and the love for the purple, but I must say, the hype that once was PNG has tended to drop a bit. Not by all of us by any means, but there are some that are just not that into it anymore. Personally, i think that's a shame for them. In saying all that, new blood to come in and just add that brand new excitment of of expectations, I think that is what is needed. Trust me, w/ the new facilities, the tradition, the fan support, once that job goes up on the block, you will have applicants far and wide begging to come continue the tradition of winning that PNG is all about. I think that would be great for this community!!!

Anyone have any thoughts about Dougald McDougald??? He is currently leading the class 5-A Kingwood Mustangs football program. Wasn't he a PN-G graduate? I believe he led the Mustangs to the playoffs last year. :shout: Thoughts????

Kingwood finished with a 3-8-0 record in 2007. McDougald is a popular and well respected coach but has a 17-33 record as head coach at Kingwood since 2003. That might work against him.

Dougald graduated in '76 (w/ me) and was a major player in PNG's last State Title. :rocks:

Indian Ken I have always said that Mike Long atleast deserves a chance if coach decides to retire. I like his offensive stlyle wich would be a little different than what we are used to.

I don't want Matt Burnett to retire I think he will become great and I know a good coach to replace him would be Mike Long.

I also think Long has proven himself in a short time at Kelly. They are explossive. But Matt is still a very young man!
