The defense came out swinging to start the game with great tackling, high energy, and excellent awareness on those tipped interceptions. Love seeing a unit that knows where the ball is at all times.
Offense had a slower start with little traction in the run game early on, and a few long pass attempts that just didn’t connect. But once we started feeding #6 Diaz, he really made an impact plowing through the line and picking up solid yardage. #35 Winfrey was flying around on defense, dude was everywhere. Major props to him for some great tackles.
Bailey settled in nicely after a couple series. He started making accurate throws and even pulled off a good run and slide. Great to see him gain confidence as the game went on. Shoutout to #8 Brisboe for stepping up this week with some solid catches, good to see the ball getting spread around.
Once we got up to 31, we went more conservative, but I respect that the players kept their intensity up. Penalties were kept to a minimum. The backups got a good amount of playing time in the second half and played hard.
Beaumont United never really got anything going. Their QB had a rough night, and those multiple delay-of-game penalties made it clear there was some confusion on their sideline. Looked like plays were getting in late and players were unsure of where to be.
Overall, a strong showing from PNG. We handled business like we were supposed to. Looking forward to next week and seeing this team continue to sharpen up. Go Indians!
