FINAL: PN-G 39, West Fork 7

eA reminder to all that we do not make remarks that are overly critical of any individual. Inappropriate comments will not be tolerated. First and last warning.

Thank you. That coment last night about the twirler was inexcusable. You don't do that to one of those teenagers.

We all need to remember (me included) that these are 15 - 18 year old kids playing a fun game. There are days/nights when you have your mojo going and you are a superstar. On the flip side, there are days/night when you just don't have it. No one catches every pass...not even Jerry Rice, Michael Irvin, or whoever your favorite WR might be. Not everyone makes the tackle and the other team makes big plays. These are still our Indians. We need to love them and focus on the positive. It's good times when you are 7-0, #3 in the rankings, and you win by 30+ points on your so called "off night." Stay positive, stay classy, love those coaches and kids. GO INDIANS!!!
All true. The coaches may not always share the same sentiment however.

Those messages were deleted. If they had been noticed sooner those messages would have been immediately removed. Sometimes all the moderators are at the game or not online. I will try to improve that situation so that this can be avoided in the future. As the creator of this community forum, 25 years ago, I apologize that it occurred. The foundation of this virtual community has been based on solid principles. Yes, there have been borderline topics like coaching changes, but overall we are not here to judge. Direct criticism of any student on the field or anywhere is non-negotiable. Common sense. Unfortunately people have a lapse in judgement and forget that respect and being thoughtful in a public forum that is focused on high school sports and community is expected. If anyone didn't know that or figure it out, this episode is a teachng and learning moment. Everyone is welcome, but thoughtless behaviour will not allow you to continue.

Hundreds of schools in Texas high school football would love to be able to say that they are currently 7-0, and be proud of the fact that they were state finalists, state champions and quarter-finalists in the last three seasons.

My expectations are high too, but you take the 39-7 win, improve this week each day in practice and the game in the areas that were unsatisfactory last night, and move on.

I don't recall a team that completed every pass attempt, scored a touchdown on every touch of the ball on offense, never missed a tackle, went 3 and out on every defensive series, etc. You strive for the perfect game one play at a time. If you miss a block, tackle, throw, catch or run, you line up the next play and try to execute that play as designed.

Great job coaches on preparing the boys and players who played for your effort.

This team is special and has some exciting things ahead!

First words out of C. Joseph's mouth, post game interview, "there were 5 or 6 dropped passes". I recall my grandson when he played on the '22 and '23 teams, after the games we'd walk onto the field to tell him and others good game. Him and his buds typically wouldn't say "did you see that catch or run or tackle", etc; but they DID pretty much always say "the coaches are happy", or sometimes "the coaches are pi**ed". They played for those coaches as well as their team mates, and I think I actually told Coach J. that as a compliment, the one time I got to meet him. No one has to tell a kid that he dropped a pass, he already knows that he dropped a pass. But amongst us PNG fans I think it's ok to say hey # so-and-so dropped a pass or two, with no intended harm. Now if a Bulldog or other team's fan says something, then that's a whole different story.

West Fork head coach Dougald McDougald is a good head coach and has probably selected a very good staff. And he has the luxury of 22 returning starters playing for him in 2025. Being a former PN-G Indian and state champion player (1975) coached by Doug Ethridge and staff, he knows a thing or two about PN-G football and everything about this school. I would guarantee that Coach McDougald had his team mentally prepared and aware that PNG players put their pants on just like the Gators do and that crowds don’t win games. And the WF staff studied film and tendencies and attacked when on defense. They were well prepared as evidenced by the TFLs on Henry. Well timed blitzes by design.

Good news is, on a night when not everything was well executed, the Indians still dominated. The PNG defense, especially Jaxon Winfrey was ferocious.

Congrats to Dougald McDougald on his return to Port Neches and having his team prepared and representing well. Just as you’d expect from a PNG alumnus.

Good homecoming win. Now it’s time to take care of some mid-

Spoke with Coach McDougald today. He said he is very appreciative of all the positive comments and great memories shared about him and his time at PN-G. However he said the loss was very tough. Congrats to him. He is a very nice man and a dang good coach.

It’s way more damaging for png fans to say bad things about a png kid than it is for bulldog fans to say something bad about a png kid.

Right - and it’s more than ok to say, “Man, these dropped passes are killing us.” But saying “we need to stop throwing to # so-and-so” isn’t football talk
That post was saved before completion. The point was going to be, it’s ok to mention football action, including what could be improved. Of course not everyone will agree 100% because of perspective. But it’s never ok to make a comment about someone’s appearance. Nothing to do with football and really unkind. Just wanted to clarify that as the reason for the mentioning of following message board rules, etc.

I don't think we're on the exact same page, but I get what you're saying. Nothing malicious being said by those of us here that have kids or grandkids or other relatives involved. Anyway ...

Good defensive spark by Newby with the pick 6. D continues to be the spark, few missed tackles from just trying to hit them hard and not wrap up. Special teams still needs work between bad snaps on FG/XP and KO coverage let a few break free. Overall didn’t let next week get ahead of them. These coaches will clean up the mistakes.

So - I don’t agree with some stuff said on here where there are personal things said. Which is why I’ve intentionally tried to word things the way I have. But, I too have played for PNG broke an ankle, multiple concussions before there was a “protocol “. (Doug/Butch/Hooper/Wynn/Bradshaw/ etc). And NONE of them would allow it - NONE! Prove me wrong if YOU were there! And what drives me NUTS is why we’re still talking fundamentals:

1) hitting at the legs by ends and DBs - wrap up!!!! I’m sorry if this offends you (only because you are fam) - but if you’ve played the game (for PNG)…. Then you KNOW what I’m saying … else it’s your “feelings”. Feelings don’t win games.
2) if you’ve been moved up to varsity - you need to show out - and if you can’t? Why? Move back down until you can. Because you’re “young”??? Ain’t feeling it. You have ONE job - catch the football. Ricketson LIT US UP on this. Flat out embarrassed us. I have no sympathy, sorry.

To the dude that has a problem with how someone looks…… look in the mirror. I’m old school as well - but I live by the principle of “Extreme Ownership”

I don’t post much because I can’t stand all the whining, but I absolutely love my Indians.

I love perfection. And I know, perfection is never attainable. But the journey to attain it, that's the key. The key to these young men coming together and hitting that stride. Realizing whats up. Learning.

This team has it. Balanced. More receivers than a dog with ticks. RB's for miles. Defense making plays. Reminds me to chill and enjoy it. Cause its good...
