    District 8-5A Standings and Scores

Y’all have no idea how much I would enjoy having PN-G and Nederland be district champs and runners-up, respectively, in a district with so many north Houston teams.

What was the score the last time A&M played Alabama? ;)

You didn’t have to bring that up.

I stand corrected. McCollum was 26-7 at the end of his third season and 27-14 at the end of his fourth. That means Joseph has the best record of any coach in PN-G history through 37 games. Just one more way he's made history at PN-G.

I agree with the concerns expressed about the sideline personal foul call. That is clearly on the coaches and needs to be addressed, even if I think Joseph's objections were justified. That aside, we’ve had 37 games to observe the Jeff Joseph-coached Port Neches-Groves Indians. By now, we know...

Another close one. Defense showed improvement tonight, but needs to build some stamina. This needs to be another wake-up call.

Hell yeah. This is the PN-G mentality we’re famous for. Best post I’ve ever read on this site. Welcome to the messageboard.

I watched the game last night (from a hotel in Meridian, Mississippi, where I’m staying to see Alabama and Georgia play later today) and what you’re pointing out here stuck out to me, too. In particular, what struck me most was that I couldn’t recall seeing that many kids on the track since I...

Glad for the win. But tonight better be a wake-up call.

    PN-G Indians 49, La Porte Bulldogs 35

Let’s keep things in perspective. La Porte is this year’s Memorial on our schedule. The talent levels are comparable. Don’t let the record fool you; La Porte had only played 6A teams coming into last night, and Memorial lost to a 6A team last night. We lost to Memorial the last two years...

Offense and special teams looked much improved tonight versus their game against Klein Oak. Defense had some issues, but was also playing an offense as talented as any we’ll see the rest of the season running a scheme that always gives defenses trouble. Managed a pick six and a crucial fumble...

I counted fourteen tubas in the band this year. Fourteen. At that rate, they had to buy new tubas, otherwise they would’ve had more players than instruments. Also just want to point out that the band representing 5A PN-G with ~1,700 total students was nearly twice as big as the band...

Memorial has a better program than Klein Oak, but I agree that we looked much better last night than what I recall seeing against Memorial last year.

Let’s start with the good. Tyson Henry reminded me of Isaiah Nguyen in how he runs. With time for Henry to develop, I think he and Chatagnier will strike a dynamic similar to the one Chatagnier shared with Nguyen. We saw how that worked out last year. Bailey and his receivers corps both looked...

    Win streak

This is the second longest win streak in PN-G history. Nine more to tie the record, ten more to break it. Can the Indians post the fourth undefeated regular season record in program history (1946; 1977; 2009)? Can they play in a third consecutive state championship and win two out of three for...

I see why Joseph picked them for a pre-district game. It’s a good test for the Indians.
