    2010 Season Predictions

You realize that Cherokee is unique to Port Neches-Groves High School, right?

    2010 Season Predictions

Good. I'm glad that we finally get to play a school that doesn't have the same fight song as four or five of the other schools we play.

    Demolition has begun!

It was torn down because the foundation cracked and the walls were starting to separate. In some areas, the there was a gap 2" wide (you could literally stick your hand between the walls).

    GP vs PNG

You're going to be in a domed stadium and outnumbered at least 3 to 1. I wouldn't try anything. ;D

    2010 Season Predictions

"Short" Cherokee (the last 10 or so measures) is played after every touchdown, first down when PN-G is on offense, fourth down when PN-G is on defense, and whenever we generally feel like it. "Long" Cherokee (the whole song) is played when the band enters the stadium, after every PAT, at the...

What in the World is going on?

PNG Proud is involved with the booster club and is an obvious supporter of Coach Faircloth and all things PN-G. Although he may have made his points a little after the fact, there is no reason to doubt his loyalty to this district and commitment to what's best for it, Coach Faircloth included...

Head Dress Boxes for Indianette Cap., Lt. & Indian Twirlers

The Mrs. Briggs that is the Assistant Principal is not the Indianette Director and to my knowledge never has been. The current Indianette Director, Mrs. Nichols, took over in 2007, and I don't believe she came to PN-G from a rival school.

    2010 Season Predictions

We stand at about 185 in numbers and word around the band hall is that there are still a few students waiting to transfer in from other districts. Because many are involved in sports as well, the numbers on the field will stay the same at around 120, but there will be more in the stands. Also...

    2010 Season Predictions

If G-P really does have problems stopping passes, then they're going to have trouble with our offense. Our QB has a great arm and connects well with his receivers. That being said, I'm going to go with a more conservative prediction and say 21-10 PN-G (maybe 21-14 if the Wildcats get lucky)...

What in the World is going on?

Programs were originally sold for the benefit of Student Activities. When they were taken away last year, Student Activities lost funding needed to carry out its operations. My understanding is that the administration decided to give the programs back to Student Activities so that the proceeds...

    Demolition has begun!

I personally thought the new wing looked great. It's certainly a step-up from what we had, and the technology is state-of-the-art. I'm looking forward to spending my last year at PN-G learning where everything is like a freshman. ;D

Head Dress Boxes for Indianette Cap., Lt. & Indian Twirlers

A lawyer? Over a plastic box? No offense, but that's taking it just a tad bit too far. Don't get me wrong; I'm all for letting the twirlers and Indianettes have their fun with their headdress boxes, but talking about getting a lawyer involved when you haven't even consulted the principal...

    Special Thanks to Dylan Ward

Many thanks to Dylan Ward for repainting the tower at the band field and replacing its roof. It looks 100% better.

More Super Teamers than ever returning in pre-season camps

I think all extra-curricular activities are going to see a boost in participation. The band, for instance, has more than 180 members this year. That's up 20 members from last year.

Head Dress Boxes for Indianette Cap., Lt. & Indian Twirlers

I'll be the first to admit that this is just what I've heard. It could be true or it could be something that was taken way out of context in every possible way - I would have no way of knowing for sure because I'm not involved with the Indianettes.

Flags for top of stadium -- Home side

In the old stadium, there were spots where the band would stick purple pride flags along the top of the band section. We don't have them in the new stadium. I've been told that the plan was to eventually install flag-holders, but to my knowledge that has not yet happened.
