Really? Wow. Why did this start with the freshman squad?

    New Cheerleaders

No. JV has tryouts in front of the sophomores and freshman each year, and the incoming freshman squad has tryouts in front of the eighth graders at the middle schools each year, with five at Groves and five at Port Neches. Thanks for the info.

Speak softly and carry a big stick; you will go far. TR

Hopefully, if we do open our mouths, they won't be able to hear us over the LOUD sound of Cherokee. ;) Just kidding. I agree with you wholeheartedly. I'm confident in Coach Faircloth, the other new coaches, and their abilities, but it's probably not a good idea to put too much pressure and...

ndncheerer, you wouldn't happen to know how they divide up the tryout scores, would you? Like, 60% judging and 40% elections, or something like that?

New Drum Majors and Twirlers for 2009-2010

We played Cherokee faster and louder for the Indian Spirit tryouts, and I believe we will do the same at the Spring Pep-Rally. In other words, we're working on that.

New Drum Majors and Twirlers for 2009-2010

Both high school band directors assist the middle schools with their morning classes, with Mr. Wells at Groves and Ms. Beckcom at Port Neches. Both do tremendous jobs with the middle school band students.

Have they sold the gold sponsorships yet? If so, to whom?

New Drum Majors and Twirlers for 2009-2010

Luckily, the band directors are expecting a large increase in the size of the band next year. I understand the increase to be in the 20-25 member range, bringing the band's total size from approximately 155 students to approximately 175-180 students. This is due largely in part to new, stable...

Ok. Thanks. If they're not currently using that property for anything, why did they pour all that dirt into it? I assume it was to level it out, but if it's just a field, what was the point?

Is the land on the corner of Merriman and 366 owned by the school district or the city?

Not quite. Band officers don't cost as much. ;D

They're supposed to turn the area by the tennis courts into a retention pond. It may not have the parking now, but it certainly has the potential. It's a fairly large piece of property, and the destruction of the building would add a fair amount of room for the expansion of the current parking...

We will be buying new buses under the current bond (or, at least, we were going to before prices went up). It would be nice to have new facilities to house and maintain the buses. Maybe it's something for the next bond.

I believe it was not our interpretation that led us to these responses. All I intended to point out is that people are going to live near the bus barn wherever it is, and that includes its current location. This goes for the maintenance garage as well. Both are "eye sores" and I think that...

We don't need to have our bus barn at the high school anymore. I'm not sure where we'd move it to, but if we move it, that means extra parking at the high school and, frankly, one less eye sore (sorry, but the building doesn't look that great and is in stark contrast to the high school, which...

New Drum Majors and Twirlers for 2009-2010

These all sound like great choices. I'm glad to hear that we had such a great pool of candidates to work with. I see great things ahead in the '09 marching season.
