Speaking of PN-G coaches, did PN-G get a new DC? If yes, is Coach Nelson staying? I hope so. He just needs more experience. Allow him to learn under a mentor. Just my thoughts.

Go Indians. Peace.

I have not seen any official announcements from the school. Word on the ground is current PN-G assistant Klint King, on staff during 2020 season as Defense Secondary coach, will be promoted to DC. Maybe some of our local insiders can speak more about it. Prepballfan, what are you hearing?

Klint King - Secondary coach. Previously served as assistant coach Richland High School in the Dallas-Fort Worth Metroplex and Liberty-Eylau Head Football Coach/AD

I have heard the exact same thing. That King will be the new DC for 2021.

Hey Ya'llllllll! I'm back! Since Hurricane Laura, I have hardly any time to turn around and have sadly neglected the thing I LOVE...PNG Football. Heck, I only made 2 games this past year. Things have GOT to change soon!

Great to hear from you sir. I think everyone else might still be out there where you were. :D

It has been a very strange year to say the least. Maybe you can spark a round of football talk. Our PN-G soccer teams are pretty outstanding too.

The PN-G baseball team appears to be coming on strong. Split with nederland and hammered PAM. The soccer teams are gearing up for the playoffs. Have not heard any news about softball or track and field. Will the new DC change things up? Switch schemes? Change up the personnel? I'm curious to see how things shake out. I know that PN-G has not had spring football in decades, but I sure miss spring football...the purple and white game...and getting a taste of what we can expect to see in the fall. Good luck to all of the teams playing spring sports.

Go Indians. Peace.

Whatever the situation is, best of luck to Coach King and the effort to improve the defense.

In talking to 15-25 coaches at several districts, Faircloth takes the top 12-15 athletes, they go on offense. DC gets what's left. I know Nelson is a great guy BUT does that explain why nobody with proven AND substantial results for 10-12 years got the job - or even applied? These DCs won't apply, what is left are young zero or little experienced guys. Another 600+ yards given up this year.

About to see a change in all athletics in the next 1-3 years. Wait and see.

I think that narrative is overblown. Faircloth had Austin Bost, Logan LeJeune, Trey Rembert (4-year starter), and several other outstanding athletes on defense. To say that all of the top athletes go to the offense is just wrong. I named three kids who were great athletes and they played defense. I wish PN-G would play the best 11 kids on offense, defense, and special teams. If that means kids play both ways or they never come off the field, then so be it.

I'm guessing the locals will make a push to get rid of Coach Faircloth after his son graduates in one or two years. If he is smart, he will move on that same year or before it happens. He is good enough to get another job and he has the education to move into admin, if he choses that path. When he leaves, we will see how good PN-G will be. I'm not convinced a top level HC coach will come to PN-G. Enrollment numbers for 9-12 have been stagnant or declining, PN-G is one of the smallest 5a-D2 schools in the district, Port Neches and Groves are landlocked, the oil & gas industry is undergoing change, crime in Groves is embarrassing, and the talent pool in the ISD is cyclical. Unless PN-G pays big bucks, top coaches are not going to apply. Faircloth plays an exciting brand of football. Change happens, but be careful what you ask for or what you do when change happens. You could be in for another era like 1984-1988.

The defense has had at least a few standout players for as long as I can remember. Players that could have started on offense as well.

I have personally witnessed and experienced the disgusting local politics. I grew up in PN and am a lifelong diehard fan, and have put time and money on the table for 20+ years of online support of the the school and team. The cronyism has been despicable for too long. I support Faircloth and what he has achieved with limited resources. Let’s get a solid DC in there that plays an aggressive style of defense. That’s what King would have installed.

Well put Indian Fan. It's no secret that BF is a great offensive mind, and he is always looking for ways to out-score the opponent. That's not always going too be possible, when you can't slow the other teams down. the problem with PN being land-locked is, the older people aren't moving out to allow for younger families. The real estate in PN contiues to escalate, putting it out of reach for the young families that DO find property. It's a tough situation. PN would be better served to go down to 4-A where they can compete better... IMO

It's been yrs since we have had a descent defense worth a flip ..if RJ would have had an average defense, I truly believe we could have won it all (his Jr yr). I would agree that we don't have the athletes to not have players going both ways...it only makes sense given what we have to work with. As been said before, BF is a great offensive coach, but something really has to be done on defense or it will be another yr in the playoffs and out in 1 or 2 rounds....sad but true.
