PN-G = played as well as it needed to for a road W. The kids were ready to play. The Indians could have run for 500 yards. Simple runs off tackle and the sweep were getting 5 to 10 yards, or more. Nice game by the PN-G OL. Baytown Lee rushed 3 or 4 and dropped everyone else into coverage. The Indians ran the ball all over the stadium. The Indian defense shut down the Ganders. PN-G kicker did a nice job on kickoffs putting the ball consistently down the field. The 35 or 40 yard FG came up just short, but the kick was solid. I left after PN-G botched a PAT and turned it into a 2-point conversion.
Baytown Lee = terrible. Once PN-G went up 28-3 right before the half, the Ganders gave up. The excitement they had was gone. Seeing a 21-3 lead jump to 28-3 broke their will to compete. The attempt at an onside kick after the half was desperation by Baytown Lee and PN-G was ready for it...good job securing the ball. The Baytown Lee QB does not have much of an OL. PN-G got after him all night. Baytown Lee does not have much size or depth to compete with most schools in 22-5a. I thought a team could not be as bad as what I saw at Clear Lake. Baytown Lee is a close second to Clear Lake. But, that does not take away from PN-G going on the road, taking over Stallworth Stadium, and getting a decisive W.
Good job Indians. When I left at 36-3, it looked like 2/3 team players were getting loose and getting excited for playing time.
Go Indians. Peace.
