FINAL: PN-G 49, Nederland 17

IMO the helicopter was more silly than anything else and a waste of fuel and resources. They were trying too hard on that one to impress. Having Larry Neumann deliver it was the equivalent of Matt Burnett flying into Indian Stadium with the trophy. Notable coaches in the history of the program, and certainly upstanding men in the local communities, but so what. It would have only had significant meaning if Wade Phillips, representing the Phillips legacy, had flown in to deliver the trophy. But that’s just one fans opinion…

One low key idea is have notable former coaches and players appear in an interview format, including PN-G alumnus Wade Phillips, next to the trophy if possible, and share some thoughtful words that focus on the significance of playing in a long standing traditional game that honors Bum Phillips and represents their school and community. And most notable, have Wade describe what the communities, schools and teams meant to Bum Phillips. And maybe throw in some old action video of outstanding plays. All on the big scoreboard screen.
Yeah, nothing against Coach Neuman but it was pretty exciting right up until he stepped out of the helicopter…lol!

I'm sure Neumann's daughter as Nederland's Principal didn't have anything to do with it! LOL!

I was watching the ndn press broadcast and there was no sound until later when the team entered the field. So no context for the helicopter landing. First thought was, someone had a heart attack and was being picked up by life flight. Then they exit and I’m asking myself, is that Wade Phillips? Also thinking if it is, he lost some weight. Then realized I have no clue who this is.

But we gotta remember
Not every game is MCM and not every person in the crowd is “football people” like we are here
Yes we want “football” but for the kids etc if it makes it more exciting do it
Yes obviously no one is worried about attendance to MCM (for now) but you put on the biggest show possible
If a helicopter or something bigger is available next year DO IT

Exactly what I thought

I was like man Wade looks a lot older haha
Although I think NDN press knew what was happening since they framed the helicopter several times

Well, those who were there felt the same way…lol! Lots of cheering while the helicopter was coming in for a landing…once we realized it was PLANNED, but it did get awkwardly quiet for a bit when the mystery guest first stepped out cause the fans didn’t know who it was either :p

Since Doug Ethridge can't make an appearance, how about Richey Ethridge parachuting in? Now THAT would be must see TV!

The news asked Jeff Joseph how he was going to too flying the trophy in next seasin at PNG if the game is there? His answer.... we are not we are just going to play fooitball.
Take this from an Alabama fan. When big brother is on his game, little brother has to get theatrical to get in the spotlight for a few, fleeting seconds.
