Spot on. The slow developing runs and passes reduce the odds of success tremendously. Defenses have solved the Indian offense. More strategy and counter strategy is needed to keep drives going.

If you go into a fight intending to stand there and just slug it out, and the opponent recognizes your tendencies, knows how to block your punches and has others sneaking up behind you, you’re going to lose that fight.

Montgomery is very talented but lacks discipline. There was a reason they were 2-8 last year. They remind me of past Fort Bend Marshall teams. Superior D1 talent does not always translate to success. If Montgomery HC can instill discipline in their next game with NED, Montgomery has a chance to beat Nederland. HC spent more time ranting and raving with officials than focused on game. HC track record in big games does not support success. Watch out SOC PNG is back.

Hearing that some yahoo was stating that Montgomery recovered a fumble in the end zone on PNG’s first TD. If the uninformed, disgruntled one would look closely, they would see that PN-G’s #28 stands up with the ball after the play is whistled dead and TD signaled. No Montgomery player or any official behaved like a fumble was recovered by Montgomery because it was not. Regardless of the call being questionable or not, whether #15 or #28 is credited with the TD, Montgomery did not recover a fumble, and the TD call was correct. Complaint DOA.

Absolutely, anytime an opposing player hits the corner on us…they’re gone. We done have the speed on the back end to catch anyone. He could but he’s sitting on the sideline. Our corners are also pretty short. 22 seems to be around 5’11 which is another benefit at that spot.

We are missing courage and brute force at corner. Most plays, we’re literally playing with only 10 guys.

Gotta figure out a way to get the ball in Eli Washington’s hands. He’s too fast to be used solely on special teams. There’s one thing you can’t coach and that’s speed, he’s got plenty of it.

Concur. #22 (track man) currently lacks depth perception experience with deep balls. Receiver coach needs to set up a jugs machine and launch passes to allow #22 and others to gain that depth perception and closing angle to the ball.
The one pass attempt to #22 early in the season was a deep pass over the middle toward the goal line and #22 was wide open with his speed but ran parallel to the flight of the ball instead of closing on the ball. Coach had some choice words with #22 coming off the sidelines. No more pass plays to #22 since that incident.
Explains the lack of development and creativity of a complementary passing game.
Focus on the development of player skill sets and remove gaps in their game. Practice and more Practice breeds success. Complacency results in failure. Stop living off your past “ successes”. the team has to be developed and evolve. Outstanding receivers in 2022 and 2023 were not the result of extraordinary coaching but extraordinarily athletes. What are your accomplishments to date. what are your current development successes? Don’t tell me #11 is a result of your receiver coaching brilliance.

Totally agree! The vanilla, predictable play calling with virtually NO adjustments up to this point in the season is VERY unusual and concerning but I keep telling myself…it’s POSSIBLE they’re just being EXTRA conservative with the playbook because we’re in a much tougher playoff bracket this year so they don’t wanna put too much on film! Or at least that’s my outlook from the warm and fuzzy “purple bubble” I live in, so I’m just gonna stay there cause it makes me feel better!

Even an Absence of QB wide pitches to a trailing #15 RB in open space like the two pervious years, Playbook has contracted this season. Too much to grasp by whom?
What if Montgomery had not given PNG three short touchdown drives in the shadow of their goal line. Two fumbles and one drive aided by 35 yards in penalties. It could have been a blowout by Montgomery. A missed FG in Huntsville to send the game into overtime against an exhausted PNG defense. One inside PNG LB bliz miss and a lost in the LakeCreek game. We have used up all our fairy dust this year. Reality is about to set in. Need some shake ups now. the season is on the brink.

That’s a little harsh. A lot of passes have been dropped this year. Coaches don’t have hands in the game. Players execute the plays practiced and called, or they don’t.

I understand your sentiment, but hopefully our season is not "on the brink", regardless if Montgomery comes through and beats Nederland. (I wish we had the MCM game back; we really should have beat them, even as bad as our game was that night, by at least a field goal.)
There are some things going on with the team, but Coach J. is on top of it.
A Nederland fan on another HS football site stated that in reality, any of the top 5 teams in our district could beat any of the other 4 teams on any given night. That's certainly true, but in reality I really think that PNG has the best team, regardless of how the wins came about or the loss to Ned, which was really a shame IMO.
