FINAL: Port Neches-Groves 55, Texas City 23

PNG defense is not thinking about what they should do and losing a step. PNG defense players are swarming to the play/ball.

Now need OL run blocking to improve.
Offensive Play calling gave up 8 points. Short passes short passes. QB under center push push at your own one yard line. 2022 title game momentum turned on a SOC safety.
Yeah, I was definitely having flashbacks about those two safeties in the '22 title game when they ran that play against TXC. It made absolutely no sense to call those plays on both occasions. The next time the OC tries that, I wish somebody would stand up and say "STOP!"

We ain't going anywhere in the playoffs, much less MCM, without a decent run game.
In the two weeks of the open date you saw the significant improvement in the PNG defense. The PNG Offense first three series against TC were negative plays. OC had two weeks to script a play series against their weaknesses. What if TC offense had not self destructed in the first Q?

Yeah, my hope is that they (offense staff) simply aren't showing anything until MCM. But really, you have to have basics; at least consistently gain 3 or 4 yards on a dive play. Nederland does that. Hardin, WOS, LaPorte, Silsbee, all of last Friday's winners do this.

After six games and an Open date you are what you see on the Hail Mary Offensive play calling and OL execution in the running game.

Open date OC Offense focused on “gadget” plays moving Ashworth around playing QB, RB, HB/TE and WR. Gohlke QB, RB, and WR. What about focusing on OL run blocking technique improvement?
Still can’t run right with OL. Procedure penalties on center continues? Old saying don’t ignore in victory what you would correct in defeat.
Looking at a second place finish and playing a Montgomery Lake Creek versus a New Caney West Fork.
Seems Season is “flying by” after so many “offensive restarts” following each game. Appears PNG Defense will be the Identity of this team going forward.

I’m glad we’re privileged enough to get to complain about execution in a game that was over 10 minutes in. (Against a playoff team mind you) Against every non title contender we’ve faced, it’s been 50+. Yes, I’m sure there are things to work on. When the easy scores aren’t there against competent defense, we will need to be able to grind out tough scores.

Maybe it’s not perfect yet, I trust this coaching staff to continue improving and look, play your best football in November/December

Fans and alumni enjoy talking about the team and games. Nothing is mean spirited. If it does go that direction, the site owner and moderators shut it down. We all want the PN-G Indians to win 100-0, and SETX and others around the state love to hate on PN-G when things don't go our way. We are PN-G! The Indains have special spirit...pass it on!

Indeed. I presume that many of us on here played football at PNG, and enjoy watching PNG football and commenting, regardless whether it's + or minus. Of course they are improving; hopefully every team in the district is improving.
I don't watch the score as much as I tend to watch the linemen. When my grandkids played I watched whatever position they were playing. Anyway, my comment above was not a complaint, it was a comment regarding our run game. I don't have any kids or grandkids on the field anymore, but I recognize that those with kids or grands on the field may get protective, I know that I used to! Please don't worry, I'm pulling for this team as much as everyone here. Edit: And btw, I do keep my comments general, no names or numbers are cited.

Random opinions. Strength of preseason schedule was 40+. More difficult than most teams in the state. The season record could easily be 5-1. Everyone knew that the offense would have some growing pains. The running game is the greatest concern but that can continue to improve as will the entire team. Credit goes to great coaches and player effort for that. The Indians will win district convincingly. Glass is 3/4 full. Believe.

This Indian fan is proud of the coaches, players, band, Indianettes, every contributor out there on the field and in the stadium, and every teacher and sponsor that is behind it all. We are in a golden era of PNG football and time in general. Every week is a special moment in that time. Soon to be past. I am enjoying the journey.

I will say this over and over again. We are not running the same offense as the last 4 years we don't use the HB/TE set as in the past which would help the run game. We are more of a pass 1st run second.

Another angle of Texas City game
It was almost exactly my angle just slightly to the right lol

The QB draw at 11:15 was very “2” like
Deja Two
Wish we could have an edited game like that they did it perfectly actually
Shows how little action there actually is in a game.
