Final: Port Neches-Groves Indians 45, Klein Oak Panthers 20

Defense looks better than last year, especially against the run. However, that’s about all I can say about it at this point. Kick coverage definitely looks better so far. And glad to see a more balanced offense.

I'll take the win.
I'm surprised by the other district games.
Huntsville looses bad to a great Brenham team.
Montgomery Lake Creek 7, Magnolia 41.
Nederland 6, Lumberton 3

To me we looked solid tonight still got a lot to work on but I think we’ve improved from last year.In other news SOC beat North Shore which is worrying and Nederland ESCAPES Lumberton 6-3 not looking good for the dogs but a TON can change in a month!GO INDIANS!!

SOC beating North Shore will make them a definite favorite to repeat this year. It is going to end up being all roads in the class 5A Division 2 will go thru SOC.

Defense still needs work, particularly against the pass. And yes, the tackling needs to improve. However, I thought the offense looked pretty good for the most part and has great potential. Also, I know it is only one game but the kick coverage was disastrous last year and based on this game I have hope that it will be greatly improved this year. Overall, I think it was a good start to the season.
