Final: Port Neches-Groves Indians 45, Klein Oak Panthers 20

For me the positives stood out and they were substantial. Foremost, this is an aggressive defense that does tackle much better than last year. Including 1-1, open field tackles against Rhodes. A bit undersized which makes it even more impressive. KO’s o-line was massive compared to PNG’s defenders but that did not make a big difference. They also caused multiple turnovers and had a few near picks. As far as pass coverage, they do need to tighten it up but, unlike prior seasons, they were in the vicinity every time and did break up multiple passes. Looks like they have the speed to keep up.

I'll take the win.
I'm surprised by the other district games.
Huntsville looses bad to a great Brenham team.
Montgomery Lake Creek 7, Magnolia 41.
Nederland 6, Lumberton 3
I'll say this... I started following the LP Facebook page. That stadium is something else. They're using it as like a nightclub. It's legit. Which it looks awesome. But could totally see it being intimidating to the other team if they're not ready for it.
I recommend people go find some videos of it. Definitely a 12th man kinda deal

The Reservation has the controllable led lights and could do something similar before game, after scores, etc. We talked about how cool adding some purple led lights in key places would really be cool. The first year they put them in, the light got stuck in dim mode and haven’t seen them try it again since.

Yeah I was at that game when they froze. Hopefully they figure out the issue. Definitely makes an impression for the home team.

I’m probably in the minority, but I don’t like the light effects. Just play football. At one point we had the lights going while we were trying to kick a field goal. Probably a glitch, but we don’t need to deal with extraneous distractions. We don’t need to intimidate anyone (also, those lights don’t intimidate anyone - They’re just annoying). All we have to do is line up and win the next play.

It's like when a good football play is executed properly... it's fun to watch. Adds to the game.
I will say that LP will sensory overload some teams. A lot of 15, 16 year old kids have never been in that situation before. Good to amp them up and have the experience. But definitely falls for a leg up on LP's side.
So line up and win the next play? I agree. And that's coaching. You're definitely right.

They’re on a new stadium high, enjoying all the bells and whistles. Glad the taxpayers are enjoying the new facility.

The andvantages of The Reservation are all homegrown features that can’t be bought. More fans, big band, unique fight song and a playoff atmosphere for the opposing team every week. The rest is just extra icing on the cake.

Yeah if La Porte wants to do it I won’t complain. But if I had a choice for PNG I wouldn’t do it.

I agree with you.
When I attend the games I am one with the team and whole community in attendance. We are zoned in. It's amazing.
When I go to Jerry's world, or similar, all the noise of the TVs, lights, sounds feels like it saps our focus/unity away.
We all know what the routine is.
Whatever we add let's make sure it adds to our sprit and not diminish us.
The other places need the dazzle to get the fans involved. We are already intensely focused and organized.

But we'll be playing there. Pomp and circumstance is to them. Hungry after several years of no home games. Moved up in rankings. Who cares about their taxpayers. It's about the game.

My point in all this is that if we win, double points to us. VERY hostile environment. Take a duece on their state run parade. I personally think it's possible.

Tbh it looks like its set up to drown out the opposing teams fans. The PA is GOOD. Of course it will be fun/interesting how we, as the crowd, overcomes it. Definitely a hype test

One of my patients is a LP “Teacher of the Year”
Who couldn’t care less about football / the stadium etc. she said
Well I have to admit the stadium is BEAUTIFUL I’ve driven past it several times maybe I’ll check out the inside one of my times coming home from work

Speaking of PA systems, I despise stadiums that play loud music at every opportunity or play special effects after a home team score. I really disliked the Huntsville experience because of that.

OK. It’s worse than what Huntsville does. This old school football fan prefers to watch the game and hear the bands. The ear splitting sound effects and canned music inserted into every moment of time just don’t belong in high school football. It’s a manufactured, unnatural environment. Nice stadium but just because you can have in your face effects doesn’t make it a good idea. Same applies to college stadiums like UT.

I personally don’t hate the light shows and extra noise to me it gets the students much more involved and exited for Friday nights I personally wouldn’t hate to see us try something similar. On the other hand I do understand why some may dislike it especially in the older crowd sometimes if over done it can be incredibly annoying and it takes away from the band and other student led groups, it’s about finding a sweet spot enough to get the younger generation excited and involved on Friday's but also a way to not ruin the experience for others and not take away from other students.
