No pun intended. And he's correct about needing better defense. I just don't know how to get larger linemen and DBs unless a few offensive players spend some time on defense.No pun intended there?

Well, one strategy would be to make it known that students who move into the district for their senior year will have equal opportunity to compete for a starting position. Maybe that's the situation now, but its a reason Aledo restocks every year.
Agreed. I see some size standing on the sidelines every Friday night. I don’t go to practice, but I do see a lot of size.
Big means nothing if it can’t move. A defensive lineman has to have quickness and agility.
Isaac Baker is back next year at DT with good size and strength. The other three defensive line positions are open with Kinnet, Nichols and Dugas graduating.
Linebacker is the real conundrum. There is one 2021 starter back there that should NOT be in that position next season. If that continues in 2022 there will be more long TD runs right up the middle. Every team saw it on film and took advantage of the situation. They knew if the runner could get past the d-line it was open field. Another starting LB is borderline and the other is a sophomore with pretty good potential.
Indians had a sophomore, junior and 3 seniors starting at defensive back. Those positions are always a challenge. Hinton was the only one with fairly good size.

You always blame linebackers. It’s not all on them. Now if you said scheme was the problem I would agree. When two of your linebackers line up a majority of snaps playing halfway between playing run or pass it makes it a little more difficult to stop one or the other. That’s exactly what they do. We never play press man coverage and bring more bodies than our opponents can block. We don’t commit to stopping one or the other, it’s always halfway between.
I know exactly what I’m saying and it’s not scheme. And every defensive scheme requires the linebacker to fall back into coverage as necessary or step up and stop the run. The same goes for defensive backs. But when you do identify the play as a run you then have to cover your responsibility or gap, hit and wrap up. Go watch some replays and you might recognize it.
There’s a brand new neighborhood going up by the River now. Pair that with the future development of restaurants, etc. by the river along with some new schools and Port Neches looks pretty attractive for new people moving in.

Really not productive or very friendly to make comments like that. But doesn't bother me personally.
Fundamental football. Every kid on that team wants to win. Every player is responsible to each other to make it work. If there is a broken link that continuously fails you fix it or it's all pointless. You look back at all the games where running backs ran straight up the gut over and over and over for TD's and you naturally wonder why. Out of position and/or unable tackle the ball carrier. At least 21 of the 44 points were scored in that manner on Friday. In any defensive scheme you have a player responsible for areas or gaps and everyone knows that. A backer has to AT LEAST slow the runner down and give the dbs a chance to get there and assist. These are kids but it’s not flag football. Men’s livelihoods are based on this sport.
Simply bringing that up as a weak point that must change if the defense is going to have a chance next year. If that situation requires an expert opinion then you might have low standards.
Larger DB's? Really? How about measure the size of one's heart and toughness on every play? Come on...Don't be so shallow!
No question about heart. All the defensive backs played hard and improved throughout the season. A few of the dbs were on the smaller side or average but size and speed is God given and all they can do is be the very best that they can be.
More training on good technique will go a long way. There are others here that played the position with more knowledge but it looks like a few adjustments will make a big difference in coverage success.
Heart is one thing but fundamentally better goes farther. Our DB’s chase the receivers not position themselves.
At PN-G, we roll with what we got. It's not college or professional football where you can recruit talent or shape your roster based on free agents. I am proud of the kids that played and gave it their best shot. To the seniors, thanks for being PN-G Indians, playing hard, and getting your team on a roll for the 2021 playoffs. To the underclassmen, work hard this offseason, get bigger, stronger, and faster, and work on your techniques. 2021 was a fun ride. Ups and downs, but the kids played as well they could, and I hope they had fun. I hope all of the coaches return and the program continues to gel. All three phases improved throughout the season. I enjoyed watching the kids (team, band, cheer, Indian Spirit, Indianettes, etc.) @ Tomball, @ KP, @ Santa Fe, @ Stallworth vs. Montgomery...saw three wins and one loss @ Tomball...that's a good season for this fan. Saw lots of kids involved and carrying on great traditions. Honor, Pride and Tradition.

I was at the Carthage game vs HF
Heard Carthage fans saying “…people say we recruit… how is that?… where are they going to work?…” etc. well I know for sure that in 8th and 9th grade parents are moving their kids from Marshall Elysian Fields and all over ETx to go play for Carthage. The mom goes and moves into an apt and they spend the school week there and go “home” on the weekends. There’s rumors of small apt complex owners working with families etc etc hint hint. Nowadays the parents will move them to a football school (Ryan Mallett moved in 7th for that very reason) look at Manvel Shadow Creek Atascosita even CE King. The parents and kids want to go to the new school and new stadium (CE King got an awesome stadium) I don’t see why every kid in the GT doesn’t want to play at the Reservation in front of 10000 home fans. But theY ABSOLUTELY move districts now to play for the coach or facilities they think will get them seen by the next level.
