Huntsville @ PN-G

Bring it on. D is been lights out stopping top tier RBs thats what we will need to do and I think we will be able to do that. They are big strong semi fast and they seem to be undisciplined and have a lot of penalties.

I don’t see Huntsville’s RB or Qb as top-tier. They’re fast, but that’s about it.

The Indians lead the series 4-2 with the first meeting in 1946. Until recently all have been playoff games. Someone else with quick access to DT of V can probably look up the game locations in 1946 and 47. Back then playoff games might have been played at home stadiums.

I'm pretty sure the '47 (Regional) game was played in Port Arthur. The '46 game may have been played in Huntsville.

PN-G has been a consistent and solid team this season. Well prepared team and execution has been good. Let's keep improving and racking up wins. The Indians will win again this week. 45 has been a common score for us and I'll take that again.

I just watched the Huntsville game vs West Fork. They have a good running game but certainly no better than La Porte’s. I was not very impressed with their passing game, and we should have no trouble getting pressure on their QB. However, they do have the ability to get some good YAC at times from short passes. They have a decent run defense but seem very vulnerable to the pass in spite of having a reasonably good pass rush. Their special teams was terrible in this game and they made a ton of mistakes in general. Whether or not that is typical of them I can’t say, but it could certainly work in our favor. Bottom line IMO: If we play as well as we have so far this season against the run, get good pressure in their QB while giving Bailey decent protection, and play a relatively mistake free game, they will have a very hard time beating us at the reservation.

As far as West Fork is concerned, they are clearly way better than have been in the recent past but do not appear to be good enough to do much damage in district play.

My 95 y.o. father in law played in both of those games, and he still swears that the '47 game was played in Huntsville. But what he definitely recalls is that the weather was freezing, and they were miserable, but they won the game. But anyway, it'll be a new experience for this Huntsville team and attendees.

Your father-in-law is correct. What is now Sam Houston State University is in Huntsville. The game description in Down Trails of Victory - "played in sub-freezing weather accompanied by sleet and rain".

Tip of the cap to Huntsville's radio team. They do a nice job with the Huntsville Coach's Show. They focus on their kids and highlight the good things that their kids are doing. Good job Huntsville radio team.

Tep and Stepp podcast preview is up on Dave Campbell’s. Starts at about 45 minute mark. Full of praise for PNG. They even go as far as to say that PNG is more or less a state contender, that Randle SOC 2 is no longer guaranteed. Although they do refuse to call it the Rez and keep saying Indian Stadium. lol. All good. Very complimentary, saying they think this may be the best, most efficient offense in the Joseph era. Worth a listen if you have a login. If not it will be up on YouTube in a few days. As much crap as we give them, this was thorough coverage.
