NDN Press 1st round playoff broadcast APPROVED

Sounds like something the UIL and NFHS will be interested in.
Well, according to this it sounds like Academic STUDENT LED Broadcasts on YouTube or other platforms will still be allowed IF APPROVED. Maybe the UIL received a lot of backlash so this could be a new development because I don’t think PNGISD and NDN Press would’ve gone with NFHS unless it was the ONLY option.

Highly suspect. I would be asking alot of questions of the UIL.

But the PNG Youtube broadcasts did have a lot of advertising and advertising logos.

It’s possible the PAM/GP game wasn’t being broadcast by NFHS or Victory+ since it’s being played on Thursday so maybe that’s why they were approved to live stream on YouTube but it’s all still VERY sketchy and CONFUSING!

It’s become VERY obvious that as i guessed from the get go,The UIL is targeting the online broadcasts of schools with large online and in person audiences because they know good and well we will pay and they want a slice of that money!

Based on the info on the UIL website, it never made any sense to me that NDNpress would be unable to broadcast a game neither of the official partners was broadcasting. It seemed that all you had to do was request approval, and that it would likely be approved if the partners were not broadcasting the same game. However, we supposedly got a “memo” prior to the season saying such broadcasts would not be approved. Never made any sense. So I second the question, we got a memo nobody else got?

On the other hand, since NFHS IS one of the official partners, it appears that with the current arrangement NDNpress will be able to broadcast a given game regardless of whether Victory+ is also broadcasting the game (since broadcasting on NFHS means NDNpress is also in a sense an official partner).

I watched significant portions of nine live texas high school football bi-district playoff games tonight on youtube. These were all full broadcasts with video and play by play. There were ads on four of the broadcasts during the time I was watching them. Two additional games had video and crowd noise but no announcers and another two games had no live video but did have play by play (so basically a youtube radio broadcast). Btw NONE of the broadcasts with announcers had student announcers.

I'd file a complaint with the UIL. Bring the receipts. Not sure why the UIL would get involved in this anyway!

I could be mistaken so correct me if I’m wrong but I believe using highschool athletes for any type of financial gain is VERY illegal unless ALL proceeds feed back into the school and it’s programs not just a portion. So my guess is that the UIL is using a loop whole by saying “well all proceeds from victory plus and NFHS will go back to UIL programs” Which means we’re expected to believe that NFHS is bringing they’re equipment, broadcasters and whatever else they need for FREE yeah I call BS!

After 2 years and 29 games of being able to do the games on YouTube with 0 restrictions the UIL saw the benefit they could make from student led broadcasts like ours. Thankfully we got an opportunity to continue the NDN Presscast on NFHS Network for the REST of playoffs! We would love all of y'all's support and can't wait to bring y'all the BEST coverage of Indian football!
Kaiden, you're the best!

All I know is if the YouTube broadcasts continue from other schools after this week then the UIL definitely owes PNG and all others who were told it would NOT be allowed an explanation! I could be wrong but IF it does continue with no repercussions then I’d say the answer is pretty clear that they’re just trying to capitalize off “wealthier” programs like PNG with an already established LARGE online fan base because they KNOW we’ll pay!!

PNG Admin needs to contact the UIL for an explanation. Didn't NDN Press do playoffs last year?

They supposedly changed the rules, but it was always suspicious to me. Also strange to me is that we are the only STUDENT LED broadcast I am aware of, and it seems to me like that is exactly the type of thing that should be ENCOURAGED by the UIL (I am sure there are probably others but it appears to be pretty rare).
