I am actually a little surprised by this. I thought we had a better record against them.

Also the gap 1969 all the way to 2007. 38 year gap between games. The 1961 team lost a State Championship game. 21-14 to Wichita Falls. They lost at State in 1964 Garland 26 Galena Park 21. They have a lot of history.

Galena Park football also started in 1925 but has had much less success. Only five 10 win seasons and a 9-18-0 playoff record.

Like Baytown Lee, their better years are in the past. The best players in Galena Park ISD are playing at North Shore.

Fun facts and Katy connection...Former Katy head coach, Mike Johnston, graduated from Galena Park High School and played OL/LB on the Yellow Jackets team that reached the 1964 state finals. He later coached at Beaumont's Forest Park High School before serving as Katy High School's head coach from 1982 to 2003, where he coached future PN-G head coach, Jeff Joseph. It's a small world after all. GO INDIANS!!!

Galena Park also split off in 1964 and now all the good players go to Galena Park Northshore as it is an open district.

Huge shout out to the entire Port Neches-Groves community for the support last night! You all created an amazing atmosphere for a high school football game and brought so much energy to our team!
