During the State Championship game I saw Coach Joseph giving the refs a EAR FULL up and down the sideline…I’m sure it was about all the holding that wasn’t being called so I’d imagine he’ll be giving the officials a heads up about that this time…lol!

I wish we would flip the script on them and wear purple jerseys since they’re expecting us to wear white, but pretty sure they come prepared with all colors…ugh! If nothing else, since there’s not a rule against it, coaches should at least be allowed to have some sort of input on glove color for opposing team!

Here’s something of note
These are things I love to consider

We used to hear of this story where I grew up probably more in that area because we were the/one of the. “capitol” of Caddo Indian Nation — supposedly
Although the story has recently been considered “made up” I myself don’t believe the story to be “false” but true with some historical disagreements (inconsistencies)

So last week Nachitoches this week Nacogdoches

The legend is that one Caddo chief at the Sabine River (first connection to PNG)
EITHER two sons were at odds, the chief was dying, or there was a threat of the tribe dying etc (war with outside threat)

(Which interestingly deep ETx people call it the SA-bean not the “correct” su-BEAN HAHA)

Well he sent (maybe twin sons) but sons- to walk -one east for three days (Nachitoches) and one west for three days (Nacogdoches) and establish villages there

(There were definitely bears in Nacogdoches haha)

The colleges are both Purple
(Demons in the PA booth)
And Lumberjacks

Apparently the Nacogdoches side of the story said it was a friendly parting where the Nachitoches side said it was unfriendly parting (similar stories supposedly told by both sides)
Then of course we have the real SFA and the land grants that basically started the whole quarrel with the Mexican government that ended in Texas Independence
But that trail between Nachitoches and Nacogdoches was an international trade route for years.

They say
Millionaires have financial advisors
BILLIONAIRES have astronomers

So I say SFA will be a friendly confine unlike the Demons AT NSU PRESS BOX

And we will hunt the bears into extinction (metaphor) with our tireless work ethic in the piney woods Lumber capitol of the world
The Sabine Indians will establish villages in both cities and thrive

Until there’s a rule against it, I think we should stop letting it bother us. At this point, they wear opposing teams’ colors to get in their heads as much as to hide holding. Against Marshall, there were coaches wearing red hoodies. One player was wearing red underwear (in case he needs to hide holding by his butt?). It’s become just quiet trash talk. The angrier we get about it, the more it works. A better flex is to win the game.

But, as far as a rule goes, here’s what I think the UIL should do: Every team has to register no more than two non-white colors as official team colors. Uniforms, including accessories, may only contain those colors (with exceptions for white, black, and gray, or pink during Breast Cancer Awareness Month). These would be “approved” colors. Shoes are exempt. Wearing an unapproved color in your uniform during game play is an automatic unsportsmanlike conduct penalty. Problem solved.

I think the rule is necessary because wearing specific accessories in the opposing team’s colors isn’t merely an aesthetic choice, and isn’t merely a style for rattling the other team. It’s a purposeful and direct disruption of the referees’ duties. It’s trying to prevent the refs from being able to effectively do their jobs. In no universe should the UIL tolerate that kind of behavior.

But, until we have the rule, we need to ignore these antics. Can’t solve the problem this week - We need to just win the game, and not let them believe they have us or the players rattled. The more we talk, the more fun they’re having. We have bigger problems to solve.

True
BUT
The more we talk about it the more the officials and admin will start paying attention to it
We can call it the “SOC” rule
Clever but unethical
I don’t see anyone else do it
So kudos to them being weasels within the allowable rules

Im not ashamed to say, I acted like a SAVAGE at the game last week. We need to be RELENTLESS in the stands. Fill the stands and the hill. Surround them in purple.
Same here…I’m just now getting my voice back…lol! I do have to brag on my son cause he stayed on his feet the ENTIRE game and took it upon himself to make sure our section did their part…dude was a ANIMAL and absolutely WORN OUT after the game! :p

The name Sabine (es: Río de Sabinas) comes from the Spanish word for cypress, in reference to the extensive growth of bald cypresses along the lower river.

Interestingly, I live in the unincorporated community of Cypress, TX. So I suppose an unofficial alternative name, taking in account the spanish word, might be Sabine, TX.

Another wild fact, the 186 square mile area that comprises Cypress Fairbanks ISD has a population of 750,000.

If they're wearing the gloves to get in other teams heads, then they will wear purple gloves. If it's strictly to hold, then they will be in white gloves.
If I keep seeing blatant holding and no flags thrown, I'm starting a chant..HOLDING HOLDING. We most certainly can bring the refs attention to it. Do it everytime you see it.

Oak Cliff players have worn an array of colors that match the other team. Red, green, blue, purple, white, black, pink, etc, etc. Gloves, mouthpieces, shoes, tape, wrist bands, etc.

Their reason might be:

Respect or support. (NO WAY)
Fashion Statement. (MAYBE)
Disrespect and provocation (PROBABLY)

I'd also prefer to not talk about SOC and am not impressed with their antics. I don't care about their rituals and they sure as he** don't care what we think. This game, like every game comes down to who will play fundamental football at the highest level. Who can avoid critical mistakes and injuries. Who will force their will on the other. And who can maintain their composure and energy for 4 quarters.

PNG will be the visitors. It’s a nice stadium. Plenty of room. Bring a stadium seat. Should be a great spot for a great game. Weather next Friday? Please go to the game in-person. It makes a difference. Last week’s crowd was not very big for a PNG playoff game, but we were loud, especially when the Indians had the second half mojo, and we made a difference. We need to double or triple that effort for this week. Go Indians!
I don’t understand this current fixation with only scheduling playoff games on Friday. A lot of people work a full Monday-Friday workweek, and it’s easier for them to make time on the weekend to hit the road and support the Indians. I recall in past years when PN-G had a deep playoff run, a lot of those games were Saturday games. The final three games of the 1999 season were on Saturday. I read on that other message board that NRG Stadium was available next Saturday morning (they have two other high school games scheduled that afternoon), but “both coaches” turned it down because they insisted that the game could only be played on Friday.

If the goal is to get more Indian fans to fill the stands, we ought to do a better job of making sure that these long distance playoff games can be scheduled on Saturday so more fans can attend. We had a much bigger turnout in Dallas at last year’s state championship game, which was played on Saturday, than we did at the 2022 game, which was played on Friday. The idea of putting together a charter bus for fans is a good one. I remember seeing the charter buses lined up at the Port Neches Dairy Queen to carry fans to and from the Astrodome during the 70s. I can only advocate on behalf of all those who may be inconvenienced by the Friday playoff schedule since I live out of state, and can no longer attend the games in person. But I had an opportunity to schedule a flight this weekend to come see the PN-G/SOC game, IF it had been scheduled on Saturday. I work Monday-Friday, so I can't go; I will have to rely once again on the NDN Press.

#1 NDN FAN...good points. I'm a fan of Saturday playoff games, too. I've been fortunate to go on Fridays, but I have to make up my missed time from work over the weekend, and I understand the situation of those who can't go to out of town games on Friday nights. Take this for what it's worth, which ain't much--maybe 0.10 cents--but I hear that most high school coaches don't want to play on Saturdays becasue it throws off the practice week routine and they don't want to play on a Saturday and then, possibly have a game the next week on a Friday, which means a a shorter practice week. I'm not a coach and maybe those reasons are just Internet BS. This year, the 5A-DII state championship game will be on a Friday night like 2022. First things first. Let's roll the dice vs SOC and see what happens. GO INDIANS!!!

I totally agree. A Saturday game helps fans on both sides. I've been thinking about that a lot too. In my day, a Friday playoff in the first round was fine, because it was Bi-District and we played a Bmt. team. The next round was a Baytown area team. THEN, in the 3rd round, we usually started the Saturday games. That made it easier on everyone.
With the crowd that PNG pulls, I'm pretty sure we could take pout pick of venues.
