I hope both coaches did their due diligence. SOC is still holding a grudge over that ref.So has SOC asked for a 23andMe for all the officials to make sure nobody is related to anyone on the PNG side, don’t need another controversy
No but it is a blessed Tuesday. Another day to enjoy life, another day to achieve something and become better than yesterday, and another day to appreciate PNG football. I hear you though, ready for some action. Is it Friday Yet?
Agree. No point in dredging up mud. The soc coach has stated that ‘if you ain’t cheating, you ain’t trying to win’. So don’t be surprised if more controversy is ahead.Until there’s a rule against it, I think we should stop letting it bother us. At this point, they wear opposing teams’ colors to get in their heads as much as to hide holding. Against Marshall, there were coaches wearing red hoodies. One player was wearing red underwear (in case he needs to hide holding by his butt?). It’s become just quiet trash talk. The angrier we get about it, the more it works. A better flex is to win the game.
But, as far as a rule goes, here’s what I think the UIL should do: Every team has to register no more than two non-white colors as official team colors. Uniforms, including accessories, may only contain those colors (with exceptions for white, black, and gray, or pink during Breast Cancer Awareness Month). These would be “approved” colors. Shoes are exempt. Wearing an unapproved color in your uniform during game play is an automatic unsportsmanlike conduct penalty. Problem solved.
I think the rule is necessary because wearing specific accessories in the opposing team’s colors isn’t merely an aesthetic choice, and isn’t merely a style for rattling the other team. It’s a purposeful and direct disruption of the referees’ duties. It’s trying to prevent the refs from being able to effectively do their jobs. In no universe should the UIL tolerate that kind of behavior.
But, until we have the rule, we need to ignore these antics. Can’t solve the problem this week - We need to just win the game, and not let them believe they have us or the players rattled. The more we talk, the more fun they’re having. We have bigger problems to solve.
This kind of cheating "karma" bit them last year in the state championship against usAgree. No point in dredging up mud. The soc coach has stated that ‘if you ain’t cheating, you ain’t trying to win’. So don’t be surprised if more controversy is ahead.
Just another couple of talking heads including one who identifies as an expert in his field of talking about football.Chuckleheads still can't the name correct....game discussion starts at 29:04
The Friday night games are all about the routine, preparation and number of days between playoff games.I totally agree. A Saturday game helps fans on both sides. I've been thinking about that a lot too. In my day, a Friday playoff in the first round was fine, because it was Bi-District and we played a Bmt. team. The next round was a Baytown area team. THEN, in the 3rd round, we usually started the Saturday games. That made it easier on everyone.
With the crowd that PNG pulls, I'm pretty sure we could take pout pick of venues.
"And many of the fans from the 70s are deceased" :-( , but I'm still kicking , Lord Willing, and 10X the Indian Spirit than y'all younglings . And I'm bringing my son (24yo) with me. Nieces from the 2015-2020 era are not. It is definitely time to pass on the good traditions of a supportive community. The Friday night games are all about the routine, preparation and number of days between playoff games.
Our crowds are large and Saturday games wouldn't bring in a significant additional amount.
The times have changed in many ways. Our single game attendance record will NEVER be broken by any school, including our own. Even if a single game between PN-G and SOC was held this week in NRG or AT&T, it would only be in the 20k range, maybe. Our last game of the day in AT&T for the state championship in 2022 with SOC having a home game drew 32k. The previous generations in the 70s didn't have alternatives like social media, internet and live streaming. There are many other interests and even no interest by many residents in the PN-G school district. And many of the fans from the 70s are deceased and all of those fans have not had a 1-to-1 replacement.
So, your saying that SOC's motto is "You betcha, We cheat 'um"!Agree. No point in dredging up mud. The soc coach has stated that ‘if you ain’t cheating, you ain’t trying to win’. So don’t be surprised if more controversy is ahead.
Just repeating his statement. So, you’re saying that SOC's motto is "You betcha, We cheat 'um"!
“Expert” picked Texarkana to win by 14 points. In DCTF Preseason predictions had Huntsville winning district and beating SOC in Semifinals. Picked Huntsville to lose to Richmond Randle in State Championship game. “Expert” has interviewed most of Houston Area HCs still in playoffs. Except Katy and PNG.Just another couple of talking heads including one who identifies as an expert in his field of talking about football.
This “expert” is a huger homer for SOC. He constantly thrives on talking about them and interviewing their HC. He hates on PNG any chance he gets and rarely gives them their due respect.“Expert” picked Texarkana to win by 14 points. A broken clock is right twice a day. Better betting odds on the Clock.
Well after last year PNG SC, I quickly sh^t canned them.Thinking about dropping my annual sub to DCTF. The rankings and predictions mean nothing. And the coverage, rather opinions of PNG and SE Texas in general is light. During Dave Campbell’s time, it was indeed the Bible of Texas high school football. It doesn’t have that feel any more. Or at least I don’t see it that way.
And yes, I am indeed a contrarian and not concerned with what someone thinks of my POV.

I could not be more proud of our team and our community. The spirit here is unmatched! I am so lucky to be a part of it and to wear the purple and white! The journey of this football season, with these coaches and our players, will stay with me forever. -- PN-G Head Coach Jeff Joseph
