PN-G vs. LC-M Game Thread

I'll keep my comments to myself about the defensive play calling, but is he doesn't make any adjustments. Faircloth needs to learn defense wins games because your NOT going to out score your opponent every game.

My summation is this: (for what it's worth)
LCM was more motivated, hungrier, better coached (for this game) and better prepared. The keys to the game were... 1) their defense... outstanding 2) O-Line... dominating 3) Our turnovers... I lost count 4)receivers just didn't catch tonight.

Ky was running scared all night, which forced him to make bad throws. And when he made good ones, we didn't catch the ball. Their secondary was amazing. But they are NOT better than Silsbee or WOS. We just didn't show up!

LCM was definitely up for this game and it was obvious from the get-go that we had the big head. Ya just can't do that in this district.

And our clock management was suspect too. No hurry up, when we should have been.

Been biting my tongue for two years now but can't stand's no more.

LCM out hustled our guys last night and their coaching was very well prepared. Some concerns I have seen trending over the last few years are as follows.

1) we average 2 -3 time outs to avoid delay of game penalties.
2) we average 2-3 delay of game penalties every game.
3) 90% of our snaps of the ball come with single digits left on the clock.
4) numerous defensive substitutions making a lot of lineman run and extra 30 - 40yrds after being on the field long periods as in games like last night waste energy.
5)what is the purpose of lining up in the swing gate formation for every extra point, again leads to wasted energy over the length of the game.

I thought the purpose of no huddle spread offense was for speed of running plays, so why take so long? We have a young man this year at quarterback who has the heart of line but has physical limitations. The play calls that require 35+ yard throws are not fair to him when a team has speed in the DB's. No one is better at 25 yrd and under routes than he is.

I have no problem getting beat by the better team, but when decisions are made that put the players in unfair situations I have a problem with that. When you continously waste valuable time whether you ahead or behind I beg someone to give me the reason behind the stats I listed above.

78, if you would attend ONE of coach Faircloth's Monday night clinics, you could answer most of those questions yourself. I'm not going to waste my time doing it. If you are not able to attend, because of local, I'll explain. But if you live local, come to the meetings, and you will really understand his rationale.
Everything this coach does makes perfect sense, IF you take the time to listen to him.

This game was lost on the field of play. The team will need to listen to coaches on how to keep improving, work hard and execute, and not take anything for granted.

If you would have seen LCM on 7 on 7 you would have seen the talent they were excited about. Circus catch after circus catch and speed.

You also have to remember that we get the other teams absolute best shot.

My take is that the NDN's came into this game alittle over confident. I think they thought they would do what they wanted at will especially after the Lumberton game. I really hope this game opened up their eyes and will bring them to understand that no one lays down against PNG. Every team comes gunning. Seems to me it makes almost everyone's season to just beat PNG. The other things I noticed, the O was not firing and seemed to be a step behind from previous games. The D, I just think they got man handled all over the field. A heavy run team like LCM needs to have more D linemen to plug the holes, adjustments should have been made to do that after the first quarter. I'm not the coach, but its just my take on what I saw. Seems like Walker was not on spot as usual with his passing all nite. Our run game was decent most of the night on mis direction plays up the middle and off tackle. Our sweep plays were spread out and LCM was able to stop potential long runs on sweeps.
I just pray that this woke up the team. All the teams from here on out are going to be tougher than LCM. This team has tons of talent and should never be man handled or blow out like this game.

We have a pretty young team this season. Young teams make mistakes. We will be fine.

PNG PROUD, I was one of the founding members of the Booster Club even though my kids were long gone. I sold programs and did attend the majority of all the meeting's for the Booster Club and the field house sessions for several year's. I have spoken to coach face to face several times. I stopped participating because of post like yours and people who think no one is allowed to say things that appear to be negative toward the staff. I respect the man but don't agree with strategies such as those I mentioned. If you knew me you would know how much I support all programs. I don't let my love for PNG allow me to not question things I don't agree with. Have a good day.

100% agreed.

Proove it....We may have 1 to 2 a game...We actually had just as many under the old regime when we ran in the plays to a huddle and we were stuck with the play that was called from the sideline with no out options at the line.

Again proove it...We may have 1 every other game.

And whats wrong with this? The no huddle is not all about being quick, it's actually more about keeping the defensive matchups the same. Not allowing the defense to sub and taking advantage of it.

We agree...Can't argue too much here.

Agreed...Never rally got it? Give me the point. We need 2 we will get 2 in our normal formation.

See above.

Biggest concern from Friday night for me was why we abandoned the run so early? Halfin 14-101 and Wardlow 1-22. Thats 15 carries for 123 yards...That's 8.2 yards per carry! LCM on the other hand averaged 5.4 yards per carry and pounded us 47 times...I think they kept our offense off the field and it made the staff antsy when we did get the ball. (They say this is how you beat Peyton Manning).

Coach made the statement before that his offense is predicated on what the defense is giving. Friday night they rushed three and dropped everyone into coverage giving us the run and we tried to throw through them. I am certain Coach was kicking himself watching film. It happens to the best of them. Ask Belicheck.

The theory behind the swinging gate is, if they are going to give you a free point, take it. It's ALL about numbers. You take what they give you. I didn't see the first attempt on Friday (was working the concession stand) but was told that the play was there, but the pass was too low.

ndn78, all I was saying was that you are asking questions that ONLY BF can answer for certain. Everyone on here has their own idea as to why something was done a certain way, and they all could be wrong. But, why not ask him yourself, when you have that opportunity AND the man will answer any question you have?

Nothing wrong with the questions! Nothing wrong with doubting his strategies either. But if you really want the true answers, they are there for the asking.

Have a great day.

I think the band needs to start playing some stuff to keep the boys and fans pumped up throughout the game and please quit playing "I'm a Little Teacup"

Agreed!! And our Defensive Cord. needs to make adjustments on the fly. Cannot stand our defensive strategy. Would love to see us be alot more aggressive, not the bend but not break philosophy.
