Is Josh Wright still scheduled to play in this game? ESPNU has had stuff running about it all morning, and it's posted on the channel that the game is today (Jan 4th), on ESPNU, at 7pm C., but a search of the menu shows a College game at that time. Any insight from anyone on this?

Wright was selected by Max Emfinger to play in his bowl game. The Under Armor game is a much more prestigious selection.

Emfinger canceled his game this year due to health problems:

PLAQUEMINE, Louisiana - After four very successful All-American Bowl Game Classic Football Games, I am very saddened to have to announce that our 2009 All-American Bowl Game has been cancelled, because of my health. I am still recovering from open heart surgery on October 24. I thought that I would be well enough to still be able to do the 2009 All-American Bowl Game, but I have had major complications, including numerous blood clots in my right lung.

Yeah, Emfingers bowl was not based on stats or how a guy played, but on workouts at camps. Not really an All-American game!

indian2016, I think he's just keeping the games in perspective. It's a great achievement to be noticed by Emfinger or anyone. But it's not the same as being named to something like the Parade All-American team.

PN-G has had two post season All-American backs. Gordon LaBoeuf in 1955 and Jeff Bergeron in 1972. Both those players gained around 4,000 yards in their high school careers and rank among the best ever in Southeast Texas.

EDIT: LeBoeuf had 4,794 yards and 49 touchdowns in 39 games.
Bergeron: nearly 4,000 yards rushing and 67 touchdowns in 30 games

well. obviously they had 3 to 4 seasons. i had 1 and a half. competition today is way more uneven with the speed these beaumont schools and everyone has now. not taking anything away from them. i didnt have nearly that much stats.. im sorry i just am tired of reading that guy posting stuff everytime my name is mentioned. and take this as me boasting about myself or what ever. but i had atleast 10 plays that i reversed field on guys went around through and over guys and scored. and a bunch of my best runs were on the faster teams. that was help from good blocking but also good speed from me. ok and whatever maybe the stuff he looks at wasnt based on game film. but i did turn in a 3.93 shuttle and a 4.42 forty at all camps. camps are where every one from all over nation can and do go to. like i said. sorry for boasting. i dont feel thats what im doing. but obviously i have to say get that out their. my team didnt have much to be proud of this year. but we were all proud of each other and they were proud of me. and i wont let someone downtalk one of the bright spots in our year.... oh and in oklahoma. the camps are shoulder pads and helmet. they get physical.

Go back and look at all of my posts where you were involved and you will find that I have actually supported you as a football player in every post. Maybe you have me mistaken with someone else?? I thought you were under utilized on defense and I thought you could have been an all state LB. Besides that, what did I post above that was a knock on you! Did you have the numbers of an All-American? I watched the AA games and those guys were all signing with the top teams in the country and had just finished careers where they led their states in stats and led their teams to state titles.

How did Emfinger come to name his AA teams before the season? Based on what he saw at workouts and camps across the country. Not a bad thing, but not really an AA game.

What position have the teams recruiting you projected you at? Are you going to sign with anyone on 2/4?

Personally, I hope you go out there and shine! You earned the fans respect with your "heart" and hard work. I don't think anyone intended to put you down. Unfortunately, if the teams stats were better (not any of the players fault, by the way) and we were more successful, you'd be hailed as a "hero". People are fickle. Be proud of yourself and don't ever let anyone's post bother you. You have a lot of fans!

Make sure you visit Vegas before you commit to anyone in Missouri ;D

To set this straight, I have said over and over again that the backs this year were at such a dissadvantage because of the playcalling. Check my posts and you will find that I said that with the talent we had in our backfield this year (QB included) we should have been able to rack up serious yardage both through the air and on the ground, but when the defenses stack 10 in the box on 1st and 2nd downs and we don't take advantage of it through the air then we are doomed on 3rd down when they know we have to pass. Josh, what do you think would have happened if we would have opend up a game with a playaction pass on the first play from scrimmage this year?

yeha.(badndn) im sorry i didnt mean to generalize wit all your comments. i meant the bowl game things... and i think if we opend with a pa it would be td first play because first play is always a run. so pa woulda been money. and my dad went to smu the yyear they got their team back from the death penalty and he said they got manhandled and that schools that are re starting are usually like a jv playing varsity for afew years and he doesnt want that for me so he doesnt really want me goin their. and i kind of want to go somewhere and actualy play my position. even if its a small school.

Have you thought about going JC for a couple of years at RB and proving your meddle as a RB to the bigger schools? Much like Johnson did out of PA a few years back. He went to Blinn and tore it up and got offers from Big 12 schools. Signed with KState and now plays for Cinci in the NFL.

I'm not sure who you are (20106), but if in fact you do come out here to UNLV, send me an email. My wife and I would love to show you the town and let you know you would have a friend out here in the desert. This town will take some getting used to but the program UNLV has is really on the climb. No matter where you go, never forget where you came from.

I agree Josh, you should have had a much better year, but due to some bad play calling unfortunately you were unable to pad your stats. I know you will have a great college career and we will be looking for you to have great success. Represent the Tribe with Pride!
