Brenham Cubs at Port Neches-Groves Indians Friday Nov. 10th 7 PM.

With the seedings locked in, I have to think both schools would come into that game wanting to rest starters for the playoffs.

    JV and Freshman Scores

You've heard of the program sweep in volleyball, but what about the program shutout? Is it even in possible in high school football? Tune into the PN-G game tonight at 7 PM to find out.

Indians 41, Galena Park Yellowjackets 7

Am I recalling correctly that the then-Port Neches Indians opened their first game in the old stadium against Galena Park in 1953? I seem to recall that being offered as the reason Matt Burnett opted to flip for homefield advantage for the first round of the playoffs to take on Galena Park for...

    Week 11 5A-Division II Rankings

How far up the ladder does 8-1 Lovejoy climb in the DCTF rankings after beating Melissa? I think it’s fair for them to jump 7-2 SOC. For the last ten weeks, 8-1 PN-G has been the highest ranked one loss team. Assuming PN-G wins tonight, does Lovejoy surpass the Indians? Are we still #5 next...

Snapshot day & district alignment rumors

Seeing West Brook and United shrink while Lumberton, Vidor and PN-G all show growth is not a coincidence. People are fleeing Beaumont right now.

Snapshot day & district alignment rumors

Lumberton and Vidor are both right on the edge. If the cutoffs from last cycle hold, they'll come in 12 and 29 students, respectively, over the cutoff between 5A and 4A. CORRECTION: I was looking at the 2020-22 cutoffs, not the 2022-24 cutoffs. Still, though, there are rumors that the upper...

Snapshot day & district alignment rumors

Nevermind, here they all are: https://www.texasfootball.com/article/2023/10/25/2023-uil-snapshot-day-enrollment-figures?ref=article_preview_title Never thought I'd see Nederland turn in lower numbers than Dayton. Also, it looks like Splendora's coming into our district.

Snapshot day & district alignment rumors

The dividing lines between the 5A divisions last time was 1925 students. If that holds (I don’t see why it wouldn’t), we’re still safely 5ADII. Does anyone know what Memorial turned in?

I think that really says something. The Nederland ISD bond may have been too little, too late.

Brenham Cubs at Port Neches-Groves Indians Friday Nov. 10th 7 PM.

Not to overlook Brenham, but what are we thinking about the rest of our region? On paper, Lake Creek looks like our most significant competition for the regional title. That said, I’m reminded of another undefeated Montgomery team that was supposed to whip the Indians a few years back and got...

Galena Park vs PNG For The Outright District Championship

This game should be like Santa Fe. Get up by two scores and then start airing out the ball. Bailey is accurate and confident, but the receiving corps needs to work on the dropped passes. Our running game is fantastic, but we will run into* better run defenses in the playoffs. We need to have a...

    Port Neches-Groves 41, Nederland Bulldogs 16

Some quick historical notes for the PN-G fans who, like myself, are so inclined: The Indians' 25 point margin of victory over the Bulldogs is the largest any PN-G team has enjoyed over Nederland since 1992. Through 25 games, Coach Joseph now sports a 21-4 record with the Indians. This is the...

    PN-G 51, Santa Fe 14

I was in Midland on business this week. Decided to watch Permian play at Ratliff last night. The response to that announcement was exactly the opposite. Lots of Rangers fans in West Texas, apparently.

    MCM Tickets

Are we sure the reservations are a PN-GISD decision? As I understood it when the controversy erupted this morning, PN-G had to call over to Nederland ISD to resolve the issues. If I'm correct, I'm not sure there's anything we can do about whether Nederland includes a general admission section.

Think we could contact that group and seek recognition?

    Week 9 District Standings

Looking at the district standings, it's really struck me how much more complete this Indians squad looks than the rest of district. Statistically, FBM's defense is comparable, if not slightly better, than PN-G's, but the Indian offense is worlds better than its Buffalo counterpart. Likewise...

Indians vs Indians Santa Fe to visit PN-G

Not taking anything from Santa Fe. We should take them seriously. That said, if we can get up by two scores or more, it's time to air out the ball and test our limits. Build some confidence heading into Mid-County Madness and the playoffs.

    PN-G 41, Dayton 14

I’ve been thinking this, myself. This team is definitely farther along at this point in the season than last year’s team was through seven games. If we can stay healthy, continue this rate of progress and get Shea back, then I expect another very deep run.
