Maximizing Crowd Impact on the Field

The more the spirit groups do to engage the fans from the sidelines and the more the players win on the field, the more fun the fan experience will be and the more engaged the fans will get. It’s the same mix college teams use to sell tickets and pack stadiums. Coach Joseph and company will...

Maximizing Crowd Impact on the Field

To your point, the band sat behind the south endzone at the Brenham game and could be clearly heard all over NRG Stadium. The SOC band sat closer to the goalpost at AT&T. I didn't understand why we didn't do the same thing. During the COVID season, our band had temporary stands set up behind...

Maximizing Crowd Impact on the Field

I'll start with one potential answer to my own question. I think it would be wise to break the cheerleading squad up to cover more of the stadium at once. Alabama does this in Bryant-Denny Stadium. Three cheerleading squads are placed in three of the four corners of the stadium at field level...

Maximizing Crowd Impact on the Field

I was, and remain, immensely proud to to see our crowd sizes start to grow again this season. We outnumbered the Brenham fans in the third round at least five to one. In both the quarterfinal and the semifinal, we sold out our side of the stadium and had fans sitting on the other side of the...

Appreciation Thread for the 2022 PN-G Indians

Through it all, these kids have walked tall. Despite all of the adversity, all of the tragedy, all of the natural and man-made disasters, all of the economic strife, all of the undue hysteria, all of the unjustifiable hatred, all of the disproportionate rhetoric and all of the performative...

Appreciation Thread for the 2022 PN-G Indians

I posted this on Facebook, but I think it’s worth sharing here as well. We lost Friday night. That’s alright. Let’s talk about history, one more time. This time, we’re going to start our lesson in a very different place. The seniors of the Port Neches-Groves High School Class of 2023 were born...

    5A DII State Championship Game

I think Adams became a favorite target for opposing defenses late in the season. Keeping him in the backfield lured defenses up to the line and opened up the deep ball for dedicated receivers like Guarnere and Prosperie. Case in point: the opening touchdown drive of the championship game...

5A-DII State Finals: FINAL Port Neches-Groves 24 Dallas South Oak Cliff 34 - CONGRATULATIONS TO THE INDIANS ON A GREAT SEASON!

Me, too. I've got some questions about that in to people in the know. No guarantee I'll get an answer, but I think there were a lot of Indian fans who showed up for the Boerne-China Spring game that weren't counted in the PN-G attendance number.

    5A DII State Championship Game

I have it confirmed from a former high school coach from Waco attending all the games today that PN-G fans started pouring into AT&T Stadium for the 11 AM game. At first, he thought they were fans of Boerne, whose game kicks off at 3 PM and also wear purple, but he realized when he got closer to...

    5A DII State Championship Game

I get a huge kick out of the fact that this was shared by the radio station in Jasper. It’s been awesome to watch the rest of Southeast Texas unify around this team.

    Parking @ ATT?

I know you have to buy it for $20 and you can’t pay cash. That’s the extent of my knowledge.

    FINAL: PN-G 42, Liberty Hill 14

Oh, he didn’t write that column, did he? Let’s check the receipts. https://www.beaumontenterprise.com/sports/hs/article/Cleveland-s-MLB-name-change-should-set-example-16337780.php This column is what inspired the first effort to cancel subscriptions in Mid-County last summer. The second big...

    FINAL: PN-G 42, Liberty Hill 14

The Beaumont Enterprise made it their mission to force PN-G to change mascots for a while. The sports editor wrote columns calling on the school district to do so, and basically mocked the community for admonitions about tradition. The final straw was when the paper’s cartoonist put out a...

    PN-G Has A Special Spirit

SOC played in front of a crowd of 45,000+ at AT&T last year. Their community support is new, but it's the best of any school we've met so far. Key to winning the atmosphere battle, in my opinion, will be making sure our crowd is louder than theirs.

Is it just me, or did Cherokee sound a lot like the 1984 version last Friday?

    5A DII State Championship Game

SOC's best offensive performances all appear to have come against weak teams. Their offense wasn't nearly as productive in pre-district against the 6A schools, and hasn't been as productive in the playoffs, as it was during district play in a fairly weak district. I have full confidence in our...

CHARTER BUS RIDES TO THE CHAMPIONSHIP GAME

As of now, I know of three different groups that are organizing charter buses to take the fans to the game in Arlington, picking up and returning PN-G fans at various locations around Port Neches and Groves. I currently have details of the first two, and am waiting on the third. I'm going to...

    PN-G Has A Special Spirit

Here’s what has to happen: The charter buses for fans coming from Port Neches and Groves have to make a comeback. That’s already in the works, thanks to some dedicated members of the PN-G community. All of the PN-G alumni from the Dallas area have to show up and bring their families. I’m...

    Vandergrift 38, Katy 35

I was in the same boat. I also happen to know some of the faculty at Vandegrift and... well, let's just say I have a lot more respect for Katy than I do Cedar Park or Vandegrift. I was watching the MaxPreps updates through the fourth quarter of the game. Guess that just means the elder Coach...

PN-G INDIANS FOOTBALL

I could not be more proud of our team and our community. The spirit here is unmatched! I am so lucky to be a part of it and to wear the purple and white! The journey of this football season, with these coaches and our players, will stay with me forever.  -- PN-G Head Coach Jeff Joseph
