Next Game: PNG vs Texas High

They are taking screenshots of our conversations here and posting it on their Texarkana page mocking us now.
Let’s not practice in such bufoonery here (repeating their ignorance). Chances are those are juveniles who don’t know any better. And they may not even be Texarkana fans or alumni. If that’s not the case, we all know that If you walk this planet long enough, you quickly learn and are often reminded that there is a special breed of humans that are at a distinct disadvantage when it comes to intellect and judgement. Neither do they have the capacity to recognize others for their achievements. But they usually do make good keyboard warriors who make cowardly comments and enjoy idiotic activities like copying from other conversations. The joke is on them, they just don’t know it. They are an embarrassment to their school and community.

Fortunately not all Texas High, and fans representing other communities, operate on such a low level. Ace and Bordertown represent their community and school well. That’s who we recognize here as representatives of THS, Texarkana, TX, and all the decent and honorable fans that support that team. Good luck to both teams and may all fans have a safe trip to and from the game. And for the morons out there, be careful and don’t win a Darwin Award.

Football as a sport tends to lean toward trash talk
Anything I’ve said about Texas High or Texarkana is always with love in my heart
Several generations worth
(To anyone who misinterprets) nothing I wouldn’t say in front of my TXK homies and family
But I can see how my sharp and rambling tongue could be taken wrong haha
(It’s tough being me lol)
I have deep roots there including all the other High Schools’ history
On Fridays and Saturdays most of my day is watching (or rewatching PNG THS PG and LE games (every week)

Usedtocould, you exhibit all that is good about Texas high school football fans. And we claim you as our own. Doesn’t matter where you’re from, or who your favorite team is. From what I’ve seen, you recognize the good and the bad and do it respectfully.

I for one have nothing against Texas High annd have always admired their teams to be honest. We won’t let a few fools on a keyboard spewing ignorance on some other messageboard tarnish the spirit and mutual respect of good fans. And hopefully whoever runs that forum will sweep that garbage off their site.

Each team has a community. Together they help to define each other and their character.
Katy is "The City of Champion"
PNG is "Honor, Pride, Tradition"
In the end it is not about winning or loosing, it's about character and how this reflects back to the communities they represent.
Every community has their fools and the wise.
The fools we ignore and the wise we appreciate.
Now let's see how our young men, coaches, teacher, bands, cheer leaders, etc. represent their communities.
I for one would like it said about PNG that we are a people of outstanding Honor, Pride, and Tradition.
Who are we? PNG

1) Thanks to the Texarkans Texas fan's for providing more details on their great team. Knowledge is powerful. Although, I am sure Coach Joseph already knew all that.
2) I have seen several coments about how well PNG played in the Bi-District and Area games. I wouldn't put much weight in those successes. In both of those games. the oponents were out of there league. Any team with the PNG talent would find those teams no challenge.
3) I agree with tony79. Being the underdog can be an advantage. I am sure Coach Joseph knows how to harness this into a physchologic motivator. Sports prognosticators are quite often wrong.
4} Would someone explain how the home team designation is determined in post season playoffs. There is nothing mysterious about the bi-district game. Home team designation goes to the two highest teams in each district.

I am sure Ace & I have not spilled the beans on the Texarkana team. My view is from watching the team on the internet as I currently reside 350 miles away. One of the joys of watching high school playoffs, is seeing kids you will be watching on Saturdays and a few on Sundays. In the 2000 to 2010 time period, I was blessed to see Ryan Mallett/Brett Stafford and Mallett/RGIII duels as well as several good running backs. I believe the information I provided was about Texas High players and style of play for PNG fans to have a better game experience. My knowledge of PNG is admittedly limited. What I do expect to see are two well coached and disciplined teams battling. A retired coach attended the Texas High/Marshall game to invite a player to participate in a coaches all-star game. After the game, he related that Texas High had “athletes all over the field”. I think that see what Indian fans will see Friday. Whichever team better executes their game plan will move on to the regional finals. My hope is Texas High!

This is the post with screenshots of our discussion…sadly it’s a ADULT and PARENT of a player…ugh! I actually saw quite a bit of ugly comments from ADULTS and several seem to be RELATIVES of some of the players basically not giving ANY respect to PNG!! Oh well…I’m sure the GOOD fans outweigh the BAD, but sometimes a teams attitude is a reflection of their environment so they could be in for a SURPRISE if their players are overlooking PNG!! We shall see!

Alright guys and gals. Now on their video podcast they are talking about our fans, intentionally spelling our towns name wrong, and our mascot. They give us 0 chance to win.

Thanks for the update. I'll ignore the fools for now. Deny them the attention they desperately seek.
Let's focus on getting the win.

The last 2 years on the way to state, our fans were on every opposing fans page. PNG fans took stalking to a new level. We drove Liberty Hill fans CRAZY. One school district had to close the online ticket sales. Let them screenshot all they want. Once this gets around I'm sure PNG fans will invade all TH sports threads.

You are a youngster. I have a ticket to the game and a hotel room. Saturday around midnight had to keep switching hotels and rooms has they were being booked before I could confirm my reservation.
I have only missed one playoff PNG game since 1966. PNG vs Texas City in 1974. My younger sister was getting married. A wet northerner blew in and windows on the church were shaking. When out to the car/radio and tuned into game first chance I could break away. Announcers said both teams stopped trying to punt on 4th against the wind in the !
You picked the right playoff game to miss! It was windy (30+ mph), wet and cold. Worst weather I ever sat through for a football game. My girlfriend left at halftime and sat in the car (with the heater on) for the rest of the game. We won 9-7 with the only scores occurring when the teams had the wind at their backs. Mark Buchanan punted 10 times with an average of 15 yards per punt. And that included a 58 yard punt with the wind at his back!

Another interesting note is how what turned out to be the winning field goal was accomplished. The regular snapper Jim Bob Helduser was out because of a sprained ankle he suffered in the 2nd quarter. Kirk Romero replaced him for the PAT, but snapped the extra point try over the kicker's head and the score remained 6-0. Texas City then turned the ball over at their 12, which eventually resulted in a 31-yd field goal attempt. Coach Ethridge asked Helduser if he could snap the ball for the field goal and he said yes. Helduser then had to quickly get the tape off his ankle and his shoe back on. He executed a perfect snap and the kick was good. Amazingly, it was the first varsity field goal by Rick Vaught. Texas City scored on a 48 yard TD run in the 3rd quarter, but we held on for the 9-7 victory!

Some of the Texas High fans are a little raw. But every community has people who take these games personal. I am sure there are some PNG fans who are in that camp also. However, both schools have many, many fans who don't live or die by the succes or failure of their sports team. You need to look no further than "ACE" and "border town" to know how to dicuss High School footbal without getting all worked up. These two fans are a small sample of what makes up the greater Texas High fan base.

I see nothing wrong with making good natured fun of an opposing team. That has been going on forever and will continue to go on. I havent seen any of the TH deragatory remorks and they don't affect me what soever. If you can't take the heat you need to get out of the kitchen.

Lets have a good game and pray that none of these young men get injured.

This game can’t arrive soon enough. Looking forward to cheering on another great PN-G team that has earned their place in history no matter what. And then celebrating their PNG football careers into the future.
As good as it gets.
