I can't add to what's already been said here, or to what I've already said on the other SETX site. Need good intensity like last Thursday, good pass rush, limit the motion penalties, etc. I like being the underdog in this one, and hope that the Nederland comparison sticks in their heads.
Some of our guys have been stepping up lately, and I like that. I wish like heck that I could be there, but I'll be watching on line instead. But I'll make a deal, if we win this one, then I'll be at the next one, Hell or high water.

Speaking of attendance. Fan attendance can very well make a difference in this game. Both teams are good and this game will likely be decided by "the little things". A full PNG house could be the "Shock and Awe" that tilts the game for PNG. Turpin stadium seats only 15,971. It would be awesome if 8,000 Indians sshowed up. If PNG doesn't win this game there will be no more chances to show off the Indian Spirit this year. That would be a shame beacause there is nothin else like it in High School Footbal. Call as many fans as you can and emphasize how important this game is. Trade shifts with non-PNGers, lean on your bosses to let you off early and do whatever else is necessary to show up. Something to remember about Nederland. The Bulldogs had a 4+ hour bus ride to that game. The Tigers had a thirty minute drive or less from the house. Very different than this situation where both teams will be making a 2-3 hour trip.

Basically, what it comes down to is Nederland brought their absolute BEST game into The Rez to pull off the biggest MCM upset in a LONG time and left it there…LITERALLY!! We’ve seen that happen many times over the years! That’s WHY it’s called Mid County MADNESS! Nederland just had NO fight left in them when they rolled into Texarkana emotionally deflated after back to back losses and drained from a 7 hour bus ride!! Meanwhile, the INDIANS have continued to improve, stayed FOCUSED on the MISSION and prepared to give TX High all the FIGHT they can handle and then some!!

It happens. Remember 1999 when Nederland was ranked in the top 5 or 10? They were expected to dominate in that game. PNG dominated instead and continued to win until week 16.

They haven’t done much since they named my family- Family of the Year 1979 (my Mimi was so proud lol)
Since the great Johnny Green left as a sports writer

They rely on Shreveport mostly for television
Texarkana Gameday is great but honestly
Mostly well informed manchildren (I like the game announcers)
They actually know a good bit of facts and figures but I’m not a fan of their style (jr high style tons of inside (and probably inappropriate jokes)
It’s home (parents still live there)

Trust me I love my hometown and friends but don’t try to understand it using logic (3 teams with semi legit state chances but PG plays Carthage this week and THS plays us - (both tough for them) LE has a chance especially if Jefferson upsets Malakoff this week)

(I’ve spent more time living NOT in TXK than I actually have officially living there

Does anyone know what TH fan base is like

Lifelong Texas High fan here. (Also with a cousin who is a PNG grad). TH fan base is strong, but admittedly is no match for the PNG fanbase that is legendary in Texas high school football. There are 3 high schools on the Texas side of town. All 3 are still alive in the playoffs. Liberty-Eylau (3A) and Pleasant Grove (4A) play on Friday afternoon, so there will not be any opportunity for the fan bases to join forces to support a Texarkana team. PNG fans will outnumber Texas High fans by a substantial margin.

Responding to a couple of comments on this thread. First, regarding the Texas High-Arkansas High game. It was discontinued primarily due to the fact that it was no longer competitive. Arkansas High has fallen on hard times and is much smaller than it was. It does neither side any good to have a rivalry game 50-0 at halftime. That leads to fights motivated by frustration. Safe call was to just not play the game anymore. Really sad. It also means that Texas High loses a local game and has to replace it with a long road trip to DFW or northwest Arkansas.

Grim Stadium. Yes seating is approximately 7500. The band and students do not sit on the "home" side. They take up approximately 40% of the visitors side, leaving the entire west stands for Tiger fans. Still one of the best places in the state to watch a game. No track. Minimal distance from concrete stands to the sideline. Concrete stands rise at steep angle to create a "cavern" effect. Horrible for band, drill team and cheerleaders. Great for fans watching a football game. Low in the stands you hear every conversation between coaches and officials and players.

Great old story about Earl Campbell being asked about the hardest hit he ever took playing football. His answer: The concrete wall at Grim Stadium in Texarkana.

But I suspect the discontinuation of Texas /Arkansas was that Norton he HC of THS (had some indiscretions- ) fired after winning the schools first state championship
Then immediately hired at Arkansas High.

Arkansas High was the Razorbacks
BEFORE university of Arkansas (they were the Cardinals until around 1910

And in exchange for letting them use Razorbacks UofA would let AHS have their old used equipment like helmets and jerseys etc.
