Nederland did not score a single run against them. We gave them all they could handle at times and could have easily given them their 1st loss with a few things being different in game 1.

7 runs is the most given up by Friendswood all season. They gave up 4 runs on four occasions all year.

But the 15 runs was also the second most they scored in a game all season (17). They are a quality team no doubt.

In the end, their greater pitching depth was the deciding factor IMO.

Tip of the cap to FW. They were the better team in this series. NDNzeke nailed it...FW had some pitching depth and they put the bat on the ball. Proud of the Indians. IndianFan reported some bad luck in game one with the sunset/dusk that allowed some FW at-bats to drop in as hits. If we could have stolen game one, then maybe we could have put a few dents in the FW pitching depth? Who knows. Great season, PN-G Indians. Great job competing and having a fine season. Next up, PN-G football season!

Indians eliminated in high-scoring Friendswood battle

The Port Neches-Groves Indians’ season ended Friday as the purple and white dropped their second game in a 15-7 loss to Friendswood at Baytown Sterling.

Friendswood is the No. 1-ranked team in the nation.

The Indians and Mustangs were tied at 2-2 in the third when Friendswood put up seven runs in the bottom of the inning.

PNG did not roll over and answered with a four-run inning in the top of the fourth to bring the score to 9-6 in favor of Friendswood.

Unfortunately, that was as close as PNG would get as the Mustangs tacked on another six runs in the fifth and sixth inning.

The Indians finished the regular season with a first-place finish in District 21-5A.

PNG beat La Porte in the first round of the playoffs and Kempner in the second.

The Indians have been the only team to score on Friendswood this postseason.
